About Our Rugs
how to: floor 'em when they enter the room

1. Ground the room. Designed with our furnishings in mind, our woven rugs not only ground the room in color and pattern, they add layers of texture and interest. A well-chosen rug not only helps to define areas in a room, it unifies the design elements in the room. Our exclusive collection of machine and hand woven rugs features wool, natural fibers, synthetics, and cotton. Appearing solo or often in combination.

2. The luxury of wool underfoot. Many of the wool rugs in our collection are woven exclusively for us in communities where the love of loom has been passed down for generations. Our passion to sustain this art has even resulted in our involvement in bringing back nearly extinct weaving techniques by rebuilding specialized looms that were no longer in use. There is nothing like the softness, warmth, and color a hand woven or hand tufted rug can bring to a room. And the upkeep is minimal. Wool is naturally stain resistant thanks to natural oils that prevent dirt from adhering to the yarn.

3. A Natural Look: Sisal, Jute, and Coir. Our collection of natural fiber rugs adds a unique, textural contrast to our furnishings. Sisal, having the longest fibers of the group, is a great choice for surviving the wear and tear of high traffic areas. Jute, softer to the touch and more flexible, allows for interesting loops and textures. Coir is a practical choice for its affordability, strength, and flat look. Jute is often combined with coir to soften its coarser texture.

4. Synthetic and Eclectic. Our machine-woven, synthetic rugs imitate the look of our natural fiber rugs, but not the price. Our collection continually introduces bold, new interesting patterns and color combinations designed exclusively for us. And synthetic rugs live to the max. They’re stain resistant, durable, and colorfast.

5. Casual Carefree Cotton. There’s nothing quite like unfurling our soft, familiar hand woven cotton rugs. They're so much fun we introduce new patterns and colors with every season. Cotton rugs afford an inexpensive, quick change of room. In an entryway, by a kitchen sink, on a bathroom floor, in the den. You can even throw our smaller sized cotton rugs in the washing machine (larger sizes can be professionally laundered).

6. A safety reminder. While many of our rugs have a rubber backing as part of their construction, those that do not should be used with one of our non-slip rug pads for additional stability and cushioning.
