The Crate and Barrel flatware collection gleams in high-quality 18/8 and 18/10 stainless steel that needs very little care, goes right in the dishwasher and costs a fraction of formal sterling. Each piece is hand-forged or stamped for substantial heft and weight, and a close look reveals the clean detail and definition associated with fine silver. In fact, we work with the top silver manufacturers to produce a number of our patterns. We offer over 40 exclusive designs, from sleek Miro, to classic Couture, to iconic Fjord. Prices range from $14.95 to $149.95 for 5-piece place settings.
Crate and Barrel stainless steel flatware patterns are the highest quality you can buy, combining 18% chromium for durability and hardness, and 8% or 10% nickel for shine and luster. We also offer excellent value in starter sets with an 18/0 or 18% chromium-only composition.

It takes at least 25 steps of hand-forging or stamping steel to create our knives, forks and spoons. The result is substantial construction that's never light or flimsy.
Pretend to cut with a knife and fork to see if it's comfortable. Judge heft, substance and strength. Also consider the size and contours of the spoon bowl.
Start with as many place settings of flatware as you have in dinnerware. 12 place settings is our suggestion.
