18/8 or 18/10 Stainless Steel

Crate and Barrel stainless steel flatware patterns are the highest quality you can buy, combining 18% chromium for durability and hardness, and 8% or 10% nickel for shine and luster. We also offer excellent value in starter sets with an 18/0 or 18% chromium-only composition.

Hand-Forged Quality

It takes at least 25 steps of hand-forging or stamping steel to create our knives, forks and spoons. The result is substantial construction that’s never light or flimsy.

Pick It Up

Pretend to cut with a knife and fork to see if it’s comfortable. Judge heft, substance and strength. Also consider the size and contours of the spoon bowl.

How Much

Start with as many place settings of flatware as you have in dinnerware. 12 place settings is our suggestion. You might also wish to add 12 extra each of forks and spoons to get you through coffee and dessert.
