Eco-Friendly Woods

In addition to the many eco-choices we offer throughout Crate and Barrel, we are pleased to announce that all of our outdoor wood collections are certified as sustainable.

Our Regatta and Reef teak collections are supported by the TFT.

Crate and Barrel is the first North American home retailer to work directly with The Forest Trust (TFT), a nonprofit organization that promotes responsible forest management. Since 2005, we have worked closely with TFT to ensure that certain hardwoods selected for the production of our furniture are from plantations that are responsibly and socially managed for their long-term conservation. We have worked diligently to ensure that the teak in our Regatta and Reef collections meets all of the requirements of TFT through the entire chain of custody, from harvest to final production.

Our Arbor collection is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

The roble wood used in our Arbor Collection is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)—the "gold standard" designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious and economically viable.

Innovative New Materials

Our entire all-weather wicker collection is handwoven of 100% recyclable and non-toxic resin and polystrand. Handwoven in warm tones of honey and caramel, resort-style Sanibel seating lounges carefree in durable UV– and weather–resistant resin for a breezy cabana look. Rustproof aluminum frames with bronze powdercoat configure sectional arrangements to any size outdoor space. Summerlin weaves the same all-weather wicker into classic curves that evoke front porch romance. Finished a tonal kubu color, the warm grey of Summerlin captures the true nature and patina of wicker.

Truly a modern "indoor room" that lives outdoors, our new Dune collection is a study in urban style. Sleek rust-resistant stainless steel frames are upholstered in Batyline® synthetic mesh that is UV-, fade-, mold-, tear- and stain-resistant. Entertaining dining and accent tables top out in tone-on-tone back-painted or pebbled tempered glass.

Casual and stylish Alfresco fools the eye with the look of real wood and fools the elements with waterproof, and UV- and fade-resistant qualities. Slats of innovative polystyrene faux wood are treated with UV and anti-oxidant protection and finished a neutral natural or cool grey. A sturdy but lightweight aluminum frame in powdercoated silver resists rust and stores easily in the off-season.

With its sleek slipcovered looks, our eco-friendly Catalina collection could be right at home in a modern urban loft. But don't bother to come inside—Catalina is designed to live carefree outdoors under blue skies. Under that UV-, fade- and moisture-resistant Sunbrella® sailcloth slipcover (yes, it's even machine-washable, breathable and water-wicking), you'll find a thoughtfully crafted sofa made in the USA at the same furniture workshop as many of our living room upholstered collections. Cleverly concealed construction details allow Catalina to withstand the elements. A 15-ply outdoor-grade sustainable birch plywood frame subtly slopes the seat deck front to back to drain water properly from an open bottom slot; plush seat cushions in a reticulated open-cell foam also divert water outward. Rust-resistant galvanized steel casters allow for effortless seating rearrangements or for moving indoors out of season.

Handwoven durable UV- and weather-resistant resin is finished a tonal kubu color that captures the true nature and patina of wicker. Ventura weaves the same all-weather resin wicker into contemporary modular designs that allow for limitless lounging options. Hand-wrapped in cool granite finished with warm caramel overtones, Ventura offers a bold spot to bask in the sun.

Fabric Options

Our high-performance Sunbrella acrylic fabrics are resistant to water, mildew, stains and fading. A special color pigment treatment provides up to 98% UV protection. In addition, we are excited to present introduce the bold color and pattern of Marimekko® in umbrella covers and cushions of Spun Polyester, also UV-, fade- and water-resistant...and exclusive to Crate and Barrel.

This season’s Marimekko patterns bring a rush of energy to your outdoor space, each created by legendary Marimekko designer Maija Isola. Steeped in rich color and deliberate detail, linear rows of orange slices are abundant in graphic repetition in Appelsini (“orange”), one of the first patterns created by Maija in 1950. Pienet Kivet (“small stones”) is a simple yet modern design, originally created in 1956 by cutting paper circles with scissors. Unikko (“poppy”) has been the most popular Marimekko print since its introduction in 1964. Challenging the common notion of decorative florals, Unikko broke from tradition with its creative pop art interpretation in bold, simplified pattern and bright color. Designed in 1965 as part of the Kreetalta (“from Crete”) series, Paprika embodies fluid abstract shapes which thrive deep in the Mediterranean.
