Wool Rugs

Wool Rugs There’s nothing like the softness, warmth and color a handwoven or hand-tufted wool rug can bring to a room. Our collection features modern neutrals, traditional designs, artistic graphics and sculpted dimensionals in plush 100% wool. The upkeep is modern and minimal, too. Wool is naturally stain-resistant thanks to natural oils that prevent dirt from adhering to the yarn. And because wool’s a durable fiber that springs back, it’s a practical choice for high-traffic areas.

Construction

There are four types of wool rug construction. A rug pad is recommended for all wool rugs. If the intended use is over carpeting, a multi-purpose rug pad is recommended.

Hand-knotted

This is a time-intensive process in which pre-dyed lengths of yarn are hand-looped through a cotton foundation, then each yarn is hand-knotted to secure it to the backing. This time and attention to detail create a beautiful rug that has a lasting value and presence.

Handloomed

A combination of color and yarn thicknesses is intricately handwoven to create contemporary or traditional designs, such as flatweaves or sumac styles. Handloomed rugs are often reversible.

Hand-tufted

Yarn is pushed by hand through a frame-stretched primary backing using a tufting tool. Tufted rugs are backed with latex for stability, then with cotton or jute for a finished look.

Power-loomed

Machines offer an efficient way to loom a variety of looped textures at a value. Power-loomed rugs can include cut piles, rib patterns and bouclé weaves.

Natural Fiber Rugs

Natural Fiber Rugs Our natural fiber rugs bring a modern organic look and neutral texture to any setting. They’re a natural choice for adding an eclectic look to classic living and family rooms, or a relaxed kickback feel to the weekend cottage. Our collection is artistically handwoven or loomed in interesting patterns by craftsmen whose skills have been handed down for generations.

Construction

Our fiber rugs are handwoven or loomed from a variety of all-natural plants and grasses such as bamboo, abaca, jute, coir, sisal, seagrass and coconut. For a clean modern finish, we may bind the edges with a decorative cotton, linen or polyester tape.

Many of our natural fiber rugs are backed with latex for cushioning, stability, and to extend the life of the rug. A rug pad is recommended under any non-backed fiber rugs. If the intended use is over other carpeting, a multi-purpose rug pad is recommended.

Natural fibers are quite absorbent and can shrink and expand with changes in humidity. They are intended for indoor use only and are not recommended for use in damp or humid areas such as bathrooms.

Cotton Rugs

Cotton Rugs Easy-care cotton rugs offer a quick, inexpensive way to change the look of any room. In an entryway, by a kitchen sink, on a bathroom floor, in the den. They’re so much fun, we introduce new patterns and colors with every season.

Construction

Our soft cotton rugs are handwoven on traditional looms in a variety of flatweave styles, from stripes to solids. Most styles are finished with clean edges, but for added visual interest, some styles feature fringe at the borders. A rug pad is recommended for all cotton rugs.

Synthetic Rugs

Synthetic Rugs Our machine-woven, synthetic fiber rugs offer value in a new generation of man-made materials that often mimic the look of both natural fiber and wool rugs, while resisting stains, wear and tear. While synthetics are extremely durable, colorfast and perfect for high-traffic areas, they’re also priced so you can frequently update rooms with new seasonal color and texture. We also feature a collection of indoor/outdoor polypropylene rugs. Machine-loomed for a tight weave, these synthetics add a sophisticated, interior look to exterior settings—yet are extremely durable and need only to be hosed down. They also make smart choices for the kitchen, mudroom, basement or laundry room.

Construction

Synthetic floor coverings are constructed from olefin, polyester, acrylic, nylon or a blend of these fibers. Depending on construction, some styles are backed with latex/cotton or PVC/foam rubber for cushioning, stability, and to extend the life of the rug.

Synthetic fibers are non-porous, making these rugs stain-resistant. A rug pad is recommended for indoor synthetic rugs.

Rug Pads

Rug Pads Because rugs wear primarily from the back first, we recommend the use of a pad to lengthen the life of your rug, as well as provide stability and cushioning. We offer three protective options, depending on the construction and use of the rug.

Miracle Hold Plus Rug Pad

Our basic double-sided rug pad is lighter weight, making it ideal for cotton rugs, fiber rugs and flatweaves. It prevents slipping as well as staining of hard surface floors or carpeting. And it will not discolor or leave marks on flooring. The foam side is for hard surfaces, the adhesive side for carpet. Flame-retardant polyester and latex pad is specially treated to prevent bacteria, mold and mildew. Not recommended for floors with radiant heating.

Non-Slip Rug Pad

Our basic double-sided rug pad is lighter weight, making it ideal for cotton rugs, fiber rugs and flatweaves. It prevents slipping as well as staining of hard surface floors or carpeting. And it will not discolor or leave marks on flooring. The foam side is for hard surfaces, the adhesive side for carpet. Flame-retardant polyester and latex pad is specially treated to prevent bacteria, mold and mildew. Not recommended for floors with radiant heating.

Multi-Purpose Rug Pad

Double-sided for use over both carpeted and hard surface floors, this non-slip pad provides a firm, cushioned base ideal for all rug types, especially hand-tufted and hand-knotted wool rugs. This thicker pad hides irregularities in stone and tile floors, reduces puckering around furniture legs, insulates noise and cold, and makes vacuuming easier. And it will not stain, discolor or transfer to carpet or flooring. The polyester felt side is designed for use over carpeted surfaces while the synthetic latex side is for use on hard floor surfaces and floors with radiant heating. Flame-retardant pad is specially treated to prevent bacteria, mold and mildew.
