A watercolorist at heart, Brooklyn-based textile designer Lourdes Sánchez creates handpainted patterns that range from geometric to ethereal. Ikats, abstracts and garden florals all live harmoniously in her portfolio. Considering her fashion industry background, it’s no wonder that Sanchez’s patterns feel beautifully current and of the moment. The Cuban-born designer attended the New York School of Visual Arts and designed prints for the fashion industry for 18 years before launching her own studio, Luli Sánchez, in 2004. Her adopted hometown of New York provides a constant stream of inspiration that are as diverse as her work—from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and upscale floral shops to the Brooklyn Flea Market, second-hand bookstores and nature.View more artists and designers.
