Surrounded by nature and a creative family who inspired, encouraged and gave her lots of empty cardboard boxes, Paige Russell’s earliest designs included pint-sized cat apartments and snow fort shelving. In fact, she recalls she had been making and designing for as long as she can remember. In fact, she didn’t know that one could make a viable profession of all that creativity until a friend encouraged her to check out the offerings at the Parson’s School of Design, where she soon enrolled and earned a B.F.A. in product design.
Describing her style as minimal but cheeky, Russell is skilled at turning playful concepts into subtle, refined design solutions. She draws inspiration from overlooked details and small moments, such as a plant working its way through pavement or a sparkling laugh. As the owner of Paige Russell Design, she brings this inspiration to ceramic designs, which haven been featured in various publications and at the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.View more artists and designers.
