The Story

Hand-hewn in oversized proportions, this 65" table has the heft and character of a European farmhouse antique. The simple, rustic design has substantial legs and a hand-planed plank top with authentic peg detailing. Open grain and knots are unique to each piece. The rich honey finish is waxed to a soft sheen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect as desk! We were looking for a desk for many weeks. We could not find anything that we really like that also fits our budget. The one we really like was about $2000.We walked around the store one day; and sat at this table.Table has a supporting structure underneath so it would not bend. The price was great; and reviews were good, too.We bought a heat resistant desk mat for a monitor and use as desk; and still use the half of table for dinning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! I bought this table a year & a half ago & my husband & I use it daily in our kitchen. We use placemats & are careful but not overly careful. We sit at it it to open mail, read books, & there have been some inevitable spills, etc. There are no noticeable scratches & to me it looks as good as it day the day it arrived.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous but darker than I thought! I bought this table with 4 side chairs and a bench. I absolutely LOVE my table; however, it appeared lighter in coloration in the store than in my house. I chose honey to lighten my kitchen, but it did the opposite. Hopefully the summer sunshine will lighten it up. It's a very sturdy table and I love the natural markings in it. Just be wary of the way it may look in the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Homey, down to earth, warm table We back-ordered this table and it took a while to get it. The product we got had considerably more grain than the display and the color was lighter, but... It is still a wonderful table, it still provides a warm feeling to the place and makes it feel very homey, so we are trying hard to get over the excess of grain in the wood (as compared with what expected from the floor model).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful table We just purchased the Basque honey table and LOVE it. We paired it with the bench, and Village side chairs. We were concerned, however, with the durability of the table. We'd read various reviews on scratching, staining, etc., so had a chat with one of the very helpful C&B reps who immediately sent me the care instructions and recommended Finisher's Formula polish (C&B sells this). My husband polished the table with this and it brought out a the colors beautifully while giving some protection to the finish. We regularly use place mats and I tend to put hot plates/bowls atop a silicone trivet/potholder. We also purchased the Acacia trivets at C&B that go perfectly with the table. We love our new dining room set!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, well made and attractive. A good everyday table that fits very nicely in our casual dining area and goes well with our existing chairs. Some reviewers complained about the table scratching easily, but with several coats of paste wax applied that doesn't appear to be a problem. Not really rustic, certainly not contemporary, but definitely fine for those with informal, eclectic taste in home décor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this table! Purchased this table several weeks ago. The honey color is beautiful and let's the natural grain of the wood shine. Excellent craftsmanship. I would highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice quality, dark finish I really like this table for the price. Works for our space. Finish, however, is darker than what I would expect would be described as "honey."

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not The Same... I have this table the next size up and it's beautiful. Despite being about 5 years old, it has a lovely, polished finish that reflects light wonderfully. The honey color is a gorgeous orangey/red highlighted wood. I ordered the 65" table recently for a smaller area and I'm disappointed to see that production of the table has changed rather drastically. It seems that C&B decided to make the product more "rustic," which means that the table comes with rough spots on the top and the finish isn't smooth. It's also a much darker, duller color. I imagine they did this to combat the complaints about the table scratching easily, but it really isn't an improvement. It also no longer matches the basque chairs, which are in the old finish. I complained to customer service and they replaced the first table I purchased with a second, but the problems still remain. This is all the more irritating because the floor models in the store I visited are all the old finish, so there is no way for the customer to really know what they are getting. C&B should really make it clear that the color and texture of the table has drastically changed. Customer service has, as always, been wonderful, but this has still been a subpar experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Table, skip the 'matching' chairs I ordered this table with the bench and 4 chairs from the Basque Honey collection. The table and the bench are a gorgeous color wood and match perfectly. The four chairs were much more red with none of the honey tones, but still close enough in color that it looks like you were trying to make a match and failed. After 2 attempts at getting a matching Basque honey set sent to me, I was informed that the chairs are not made at the same location as the table and that I should not expect them to match. I opted to exchange my honey chairs for the same four chairs in the Basque Java collection. Now my set looks great, the four chairs look like they're meant to not match and the colors compliment each other nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our needs We waited several months for this to arrive, but it was worth the wait. I had read the reviews about the softness of the wood, and gave it four coats of paste wax. It came through multiple seatings during the Christmas holidays with nary a mar. The grain of the wood is lovely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous wood! For those of you who chose to have a glass top cut to fit the top, what color of glass do you have?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from damages easily I've had this table for about 6 months and I wish I hadn't purchased it. It scratches EXTREMELY easy and any heat or water that stays on the surface makes the finished turn white and bubble up. It's a pretty piece but can't be properly used as a dining table due to its fragility. I don't have children either so I can't blame the blemishes on them!
