The Story

With the rise in home canning and preserving, it's only natural we'd revisit these German classics—keeping it fresh since 1900. Unlike other canning jars, Wecks feature an open tapered shape that's easier to fill and empty, rust-free glass lids (no can opener required), and sealing gaskets that are easy to check at a glance. Jars stack for convenient storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jar These jars are a stylish alternative to the current method of home canning. They are easy to use and free of harmful chemicals. I use this jar as if it were a pint jar; I add 5 minutes to the processing time. With these jars it is easy to see if it has sealed. The little rubber tab will point down if it is sealed properly; all jars take a 1/2 inch head space. The jars really show off colorful jams and jellies, and make for great gifts!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these jars! These jars are fantastic! I ordered 3 in different sizes: 4.5 oz.; 10 oz.; 18 oz. and plan on ordering many more for myself and as gifts. The 18 oz is perfect for freezing soups or sauces in the perfect portion size for 2 people. The 4.5 oz. size is great for all the times you are left with "too much to toss" yet can't figure out what to put it in - these are the answer!I was a bit concerned about the metal clips used to seal the lids - wasn't sure if I would find them cumbersome and a hassle. No problems whatsoever. They actually work quite easily once you get the "concept" of how they clip on... I like them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Weck canning jars I am very pleased with the Weck canning jars I purchased from Crate and Barrel. I had initially planned on purchasing the wire bale style of jar, but after researching the two, I determined that the Weck jars were a superior product. I purchased the jars for making preserved Meyer lemons and sundried tomatoes in olive oil. I am very pleased with the jars, they are easy to use, and should last a long time with care. I was also very pleased with how the jars were wrapped for shipping, there was no breakage, and they arrived in a timely manner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Refrigerator Pickles The Weck canning jars made my refrigerator pickle project easier. These jars also made great gifts. I'm coming back to get more. There weren't too many left in stock at my Crate and Barrel, hopefully the store is re-stocking. I like the taller & larger ones the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I use these jars as decorative holders of food items and give them as gifts. They look beautiful are very functional. They also freeze very well with things like spaghetti sauce in them. I also really like the way the clips hold on the lid, very secure. I have several sizes and shapes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plastic free food storage solution I love that these are plastic free, durable, and super cute. I like that you can use them with the rubber gasket and clips for an air tight seal or just with the glass lid set on top for quick access to items that don't need that air tight seal. I put both glass pieces in the dishwasher and hand wash the clips and seal. I recommend prying open the clips a little bit when you get them - they come pretty tight and can scrape the glass ridge sometimes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weck jars are a treasure to own... The 18-ounce Weck glass jar is such a useful and collectible container. This container can be used for a variety of uses such as canning, storage and just the mere idea that they are well constructed and beautiful to look at when filled up with the item of your choice. Maybe I am biased when it comes to these jars because I own a large variety of them in different sizes and styles but they are bar-none the best glass jar I have ever purchased. The only imperfection that I see is the slightly clumsy and difficult way to secure them using clamps and a rubber gasket. But, it just takes a bit of patience and practice to seal them this way. For storage purposes, I seal them with the plastic lid and for canning purposes, I use the clamps and rubber gasket method. I thoroughly enjoy these Weck jars as they are a treasure to own and totally enhance my everyday living.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots to love, beware chipped edges I love these jars. I have stocked up on several of the sizes, and had great results making jams, pickles, preserved lemons... all sorts of things. The jars are sturdy, the seals re-usable and bpa free. They're charming and multifunctional. I make big batches of soup, etc. and freeze lunch portions in jars that can easily be taken to work. One concern - the edges of some of the lids have been chipping where the metal clips attach, leaving little sharp areas. Not on the outside edges from usually wear and tear, but on the inner raised edge on the top of the lid, where the clamp scrapes down as it is secured.... So I suppose attaching the top of the clamp first, and then sliding the bottom into place might remedy the problem. As it is, I still love these (a lot) but I do have to watch out for sharp edges on the tops of the lids where the glass has sheared off a bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For Canning and Gifting I used these jars for my annual apple butter batch. They were perfect because they were easy to use (no boiling) and they sealed tightly. The apple butter lasted for months. They make great gifting items too. They are unique looking and easily reusable. I tied ribbon around the jars with my apple butter in them and gave them to friends and family.
