from Purchased and received I thoroughly tested this sofa in the NoHo store. Although stylistically the Davis was not my first choice, it was within my budget, and it offers the deep shallow seating that I like. By the time I bought this item, I'd been sofa-less for approx 1 month. I chose Graphite because it was one of two colors that Crate could deliver (their delivery fee as of summer 2014, for an elevator building, is $99) in 2 weeks' time.Delivery was smooth: Crate called the day before with a 3-hour window, and the 2 delivery men arrived an hour into it. Their removal of the furniture wrapping takes approx 10 seconds. For one piece delivered to my elevator building, and a simple easy placement in my living room, I tipped each of them $10, which I thought was standard for what they did and the product itself. They took the money as though I had slapped them in the face. Considering they both had similar reactions, I wonder whether I was TOTALLY off with my tip research...Anyway, there's nothing wrong with the sofa--it looks as it does in the store and online. Another reviewer mentioned a smell when their sofa was delivered... no smell here. Also, yes, the couch arrives firm -- the seating will soften and deepen with use, which Alex (sales associate at the NoHo store--find him and work with him! He is great) kindly warned me about. So, I have some work to do. My dog seems to find it comfortable too!Overall, totally pleased with the sale and purchase, the customer service, delivery, and product. That's all I am commenting upon. We shall see how I feel in 6 months' time...

from Good, not quite great I received this stock item on time and the delivery service was excellent. However, as I had read in some reviews (where did those go by the way???) there was a strong chemical smell that lingered for a few weeks and a couple of threads were frayed on the seams of the seat cushion and the arm rest. I can cut those off, but for a new couch... I'd expect none of this. The sofa is comfortable but not soft and cushy, it's rather firm and with no bounce. That is fine for us, but other folks may not like this fact. The compact size is perfect for the space we were trying to fit. I'm 5'3" and I can comfortably nap in this sofa.We also got the matching large ottoman, which can sometimes be used with this and feel like a sectional. Overall, we're happy with it, but not blown away by it.

from We are so happy with this sofa! We visited every furniture store we could to try out all of the various sofas that would fit in our smaller living room, and this was the one that had the finish, and fit that we liked the best at the right price. It doesn't sit so low that you feel like you are falling into it, and it was worth the wait for the special order color we selected.Thank you Crate and Barrel!
