I purchased this rug 3 years ago after seeing something similar in Amsterdam. After 9 months I purchased another in brown, black and cream. One is under my dining room table, the other in a guest bedroom. Both are 8x10. Purchase mindfully of your situation and you will enjoy it tremendously as will those who visit your home.
I vacumn the dining room rug lightly 2-3 times per month(hard floor attachment)rather than every time I vacumn the hardwood floors. I rake the strands of wool in spots 2-3 times per month, because I just like to feel it with my hands and bare feet. I also like the look when the fibers stand up. Yes, the appearance changes over time much like a lamb's coat changes as it matures to a sheep. I am partially retired and children live close enough to visit often, giving me more leisure time to clean, rather than frantic squeeze it in. Enjoying stretching and playing with my dogs on these rugs is a favorite pastime.
In response to many who are disappointed, I truly would never have purchased this rug while I was raising children. My home was the
go-to home for all their friends where there was no off limits to relaxing and roughhousing in the house. Now traffic is much reduced and when visitors(often those who frequently spent time here during the busy years) come over they rave about the rug and then take their shoes off to get a massage to their feet, walking on it barefooted rather than concern for tracking in debris! The rugs also hide spills( not thick or gooey) and any spots that do show up can be easily removed with organic microbiotic stain remover.
My dogs love to lay on these rugs and burrow their noses in between the fibers to possibly find crumbs!
I would recommend this rug to anyone who considers the nature of wool and style of this rug. It won't hold up to heavy traffic, thick, gooey spills or heavy beater brush cleaning. By the time I have small children frequently in this home again(inviting heavy traffic and gooey spills), the rug maybe close to its last years and that is just fine! So purchase and enjoy if your if fits your home use for 10 years or so. I don't think, like my tibetan rug, it will last a lifetime....but then it was a third of the cost!

Excessive Shedding
Rug sheds excessively, even after several cleanings.
Dust bunnies from rug began to adversely affect indoor air quality.
In less than 6 months of use, rug needed to be discarded.

Nonstop Shedding
I purchased this rug in blue for my bedroom. I love the look and feel of shag, but as mentioned by many reviewers, it will not stop shedding. I need to vacuum the room every 3-4 days because of this rug, otherwise there are massive dust bunnies all over the room. I know shedding is fairly normal with new rugs, but this is out of control.

Gorgeous Rug
I have this rug in front of my living room couch and love it, the colors all blend together beautifully and go with my wallpaper. I now only wish I had gotten in in the larger size.
For those that have had issues with shedding, try only vacuuming with the hose attachment options. This picks up any loose dust and debris, but doesn't use the beater brush so isn't pulling apart the fibers. Or the store employee also suggested the old fashioned method of beating it over a clothes line. I have had minimal issues with shedding and fibers unwrapping.

Truly awful
I purchased this rug 8 months ago and waited to write my review. First, I am a big fan of Crate & Barrel - I've purchased numerous products over the years.
C&B differentiates itself from their competition with outstanding customer service. I have been a loyal customer. I don't expect this to change - even though this rug is a complete disaster. If a rug could be a "lemon" - this is it! As the other reviewers have noted, the rug is beautiful when first installed. Within days, it starts to change in appearance. The fibers break down and split apart. It sheds constantly and doesn't stop. It sheds SO much that it looks like stuffing that was torn out of a toy and thrown around the floor. It is extremely embarrassing when company comes over and you have to explain about the carpet - when it really just sounds like excuses for not cleaning. Aaaahhh!
The rug really looks bad. Its less than a year old and needs replaced. Unfortunately, because of the expense, I will need to discard as opposed to replace.
All that said, I am hoping that C&B will update their description of the product or better yet consider removing it from their line. Its just simply not up to par with their other products.
This is the rare purchase that I regret.

Excessive shedding
This rug sheds excessively, as mentioned by previous reviews.
This rug can repeatedly fill the vacuum canister, but there are always more loose fibers. I am not talking about a dusting of random fibers. I am refering to full blown tumble weeds of fiber that track all over the house. Now 7 months after originally purchasing this rug, it still sheds as much as the first day.
Though I do not have allergies, there are so many rug fibers in the family room it makes my noes itch. A deeply regretable purchase.

It Sheds
We've had this rug in our family room since April. The colors are great & brighten up neurtral furniture. The shag is soft on your feet, but the pieces are coming unraveled and it still SHEDS after 4 months!

Worst Purchase Ever
This is by far the worst rug I have ever owned. I agree with other reviews that after a while it looks like a completely different rug. The pieces are coming undone. In general I have been very disappointed with it.

Didn't last for even one month
I purchased this rug 2 months ago because it was so beautiful, but it has not held up AT ALL! The tight little yarn pieces began unraveling very soon after I brought it home. It now looks like a completely different rug. I am SO disappointed because it wasn't cheap. AND it sheds like crazy (fills up one vacuum bag every time I vacuum). I wouldn't mind the maintenance if it still looked pretty. Don't buy this rug!

Wish they have round one
Love the color combination. It matches and highlights any room. Paolo charcoal comes in round shape, why doesn't the Multi come in round? Wish it does!!

In love with this rug.
I love this rug. Purchased to place with a sectional sofa in living room. Neutral with bits of amazing color, so will match any color you use to accent your room with from purples, reds, oranges and yellows to blues, browns, and greens. Honestly, I want to place this rug on my wall -- it's a piece of art! Fell in love with it at the store and so glad I committed to purchase it.
