Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rare Quality One day, I was visiting a friend of mine. And in his china cabinet, he had these glasses that I've never seen before. I instantly fell in love with these glasses because of the feel and thick bottom but, the most interesting part about the glasses was the ball at the bottom of the glass. Initially, I thought that the glasses he had were antiques. When I asked him where he got the glasses from, he stated that he could not remember where he got them from. I said to him that if he ever decided to sell the glasses, I would be very happy to buy them from him. I then searched diligently online to see if I would be able to locate the same type of glasses. I did this for approximately four days, searching antique glassware and any other place that I may be able to find them but, my search went without success. About a month later I went to check my mail and noticed that your company had sent me a catalog. I've bought products from your company for many years so, I know that your company has always carried quality items. As I browsed through the catalog, I suddenly noticed the same type of glassware my friend had and I had been searching for was in your very catalog for sale. I quickly telephoned my friend to tell him that I found the glasses. He then went on line to purchase more of the same glasses. I love these glasses and plan on purchasing more . In fact, I will be ordering the short ones to go with the tall ones. I love showing off these glasses but until I order more, I won't allow anyone to drink out of the ones I already have. I absolutely love them. The weight, feel and that unique ball at the bottom. Classy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Break easily I love these glasses for their beauty. They make great drinking glasses for water. However, they are very fragile and break easily, which is too bad given their cost. A couple broke in my dishwasher this past week as I was rolling in the rack. For this reason, I give them 3 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unique beer glasses We got a bunch of these (the pilsner glass) because we liked the bubble in the bottom, and thought it added a nice touch to the traditional beer glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful design! I bought a set of these for my (Female) Boss! She LOVED them!! They have such a High Quality look to them! Heavy because of the base but thinner up top, perfect for drinking! Wish I had them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for the bar, terrible for everyday I've had a complete set of these (tumblers, high-balls and beer mugs) in my wet-bar for 25 years and have been completely satisfied with them. The base is nice and heavy which is helpful for muddling ingredients in the tumbler and provides good heft for the high ball and mug. It also helps to reduce sweat around the base. I wash mine in the dishwasher and when I hear the end-of-cycle signal, I turn them over on the rack, at an angle, and let the bubble drain. Nice and clear!I agree, these would be terrible everyday glasses - too fragile, too heavy, too much to think about. But for me, they have been perfect for the bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from classy highball glass It's a beautiful design with a delicate composition. I love these glasses. The only drawback is the bubble at the bottom. If you use a Q-tip after washing in the dishwasher, it will get out the dirty water/cloudiness and keep it clean.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fantastic...for awhile... We got these as part of our wedding registry three years ago.  They are beautiful glasses, but they are not designed for regular use.  While they are dishwasher safe, the bubble isn't sealed, so it traps all kinds of dirt, grime, soap that is a pain to get clean.  Plus, the tall glasses are very thin toward the top, so we have broken more than one that was tipped over in the sink.If you don't intend to use them on a regular basis, they are fantastic glasses, but if you want something for everyday use, then skip the hassle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely but hard to clean I have had these glasses since 2001 and love them still but I have a hard time cleaning the bubble -- the dishwasher cannot possibly clean and dry the bubble and hand washing after a party is so time consuming.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy Glassware We received all three styles (highball, old fashioned, pilsner) from our wedding registry more than three years ago and have yet to chip, let alone break, a single glass! We use the highball and old fashioned glasses every day and clean them in the dishwasher. They are very sturdy and very comfortable to use (great size and weight). My only complaint is that water pools in the divot on the underside of the glass when it's in the dishwasher. Otherwise, we love these glasses and hope they continue to last!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Traps dirt We bought these glasses. I like the design visually but there is a flaw. The hole at the bottom traps water and dirt when you wash them and it's too small to drain well. So it gets black in there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 13 years of everyday use We registered for several items from the Direction line for our wedding 13 years ago. We use the Highball, double old fashioned and pilsner beer glasses as our every day glass ware. They are sturdy and have held up to 13 years of dish washing and 3 moves, water for the car cup-holder, you name it. They are nice enough for dinner guests, so really they cover all needs in our house. Just recently did I break a couple of my highballs, and I am chalking that up to the clumsiness of pregnancy, not a deficiency in the glasses. I got online to see if C&B still carries this line. So happy that they do. We also had the beer mugs, but those broke years ago. Sadly C&B does not have them anymore. My only complaint is the bubble traps water after a wash. I have to give the glasses a good shake prior to putting them away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun glasses! I saw heavy-based drinks glasses like this in several books of drinks recipes. They always looked great in the pictures but I thought they would be a little impractical and awkward. Anyway, I finally decided to take a chance and buy a few of these. They're definitely substantial but not overly heavy, and like I said in the title, they're good-looking and fun! If you're hesitant about buying these glasses I'd say go for it! They're a blast and I plan to buy some of the tall glasses, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 17 years later and still looking good We registered for these for our wedding more than 17 years ago and used these as our everyday glasses. (We usually give our kids plastic glasses though.) Several of them have broken along the way, but we've moved at least 8-10 times and our three kids who empty the dishwasher aren't very gentle with them.  I was happy to see that Crate & Barrel still sells them so I could buy more. I bought some today and will buy a few more this week. I wish the beer mugs were still available. The only downside is water and gunk get stuck in the small opening at the bottom. I recently bought the Otis glasses, which I plan to use as everyday glasses. I'll use my old (and new) Direction glasses for when we have company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chipped easily I registered for these glasses and got them and within a week one of them chipped. I assumed it was my fault, but then the following week another two chipped without any reason. I returned all of them an exchanged them for other glasses. Can't believe they chipped so easily. I DO NOT recommend these glasses, they look cool, but are thin and chip easily.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look Good/Horrible Glasses I purchased both the large and small size of these glasses because I love the look. Not only does the water remain in the hole upon washing mine became water stained. I tried everything to get the water marks off to no avail. I returned all of the glasses to C & B and got my money back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, sophisticated, and fun! Purchased these as a gift for some friends that we love to drink manhattans with. They are simple enough to go with any style of decor, but the detail in the base makes them a little more fun and funky! Our friends loved them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool Glass We have the double old fashions, they are really great except being easy to break on the sides. The glass is pretty thin on the sides. Even so, we still love the glasses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect! I love these glasses. The shape and weight are great. The only problem - you need to make sure the water drains out of the small bubble on the bottom before putting the glasses away in the cabinet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Direction Pilsners I purchased 2 of these for our son-in-laws birthday. When he opened his gift he was very pleased. He loves to drink his beer from a good quality glass pilsner. The price is good and shipment right to my front door. Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Objects of Beauty I've had my double old-fashioneds for at least 5 years. I love the weight - a pound and a half! - and the overall feel in the hand. I wash all my good glasses by hand, and dry them before there's any chance of spotting. Mine are still brilliantly clear and polished. You do have to be somewhat careful when washing, because their heavy bottoms render them unstable in any position but up, and you could easily lose your grip. But this is simply proper care of a good glass. Please don't be using the dishwasher, folks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great glass great quality drinking glass, with a good weight to it. they are well made and go with any decor. the only negative is that in the dishwasher. water fills up in the little bubble below, so you need to shake it out onto a dish towel before putting away. they make one without the bubble, but i wish they would seal the bottom to make this step go away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Scotch Glasses! I purchased these glasses for a birthday gift for my son-in-law. He and his friends like scotch on the rocks when they have a gathering. He loves them and has gotten many compliments from his friends!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, poor execution Beating a dead horse here... these are really cool glasses with two major faults: they chip very easily and "dishwasher safe" is very generous. My fiancée and I chipped one on our first cheers. Not ideal. I can live with the dirty dish fluid since you just need to take them out and rinse the bottom after a cycle. I need at least 2-5 cheers's though before I expect chippage.
