The Story

The familiar lines of classic Italian design reinvented with comfort and value in mind. At a glance, you notice the generous, clean Parsons-style lines and fine quality leather in vibrant cherry. Up close, it's the small details that make the big difference: solid welded steel base, full wrapping in aniline-dyed leather with mitered corners, and seat and leg with full flange seaming. A thick, sculpted leg supports the comfortable, foam-cushioned seat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality leather At first, we loved the look, but the leather cracked and they are in very bad shape now.We bought 8 of these chairs for our dinning set and all of them cracked in the same place.I would not recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Throw-away chairs we bought 6 of these chairs for our dining room 4 years ago because we loved the style. however, about a year ago, the leather on the top of the backs started cracking and now they all look so bad that we feel like we have to replace them! We take good care of our things and keep them for a long time, and we don't have children that would abuse our furniture, so i don't know what's up with them. we are thoroughly disappointed and would not recommend these chairs to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice chairs, but lacks quality I bought 6 folio chairs and 4 chocolate folio barstools, because we loved its contemporary look. But the chairs are extremely heavy to pull out and to push in because of the steel frames. The back of the chairs and barstools are constructed such a way that, it topples over easily if you lean on it as kids often do.More than anything, all of my chairs and barstools started peeling on the seat and at the back which is unacceptable for C&B stuff. I am working with a sales associate to get new chairs. Hope that works out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Good Investment I purchased 8 of the cherry folio chairs five years ago. They looked great the first 2-3 years but the leather has peeled and cracked so much over the last two years, the chairs require a slipcover and will have to be replaced. The chairs were a fun kitchen addition while they lasted, but if you are looking for a longer-term furniture investment, this isn't a wise purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not genuine leather Sadly, if you look at the fine print it explains that this chair is covered with split and bonded "leather" not genuine leather (split “leather,” also called bicast “leather,” has only a thin inner layer of leather that is completely hidden underneath textured polyurethane.) Split “leather” doesn't wear well, can't be repaired and needs to be thrown away instead, gets worse with age instead of developing a pleasing patina. A good analogy is that split leather is to genuine leather as particle board is to solid wood. In some other countries it is actually illegal to even market split "leather" as leather because it is so misleading a term. Split "leather" only makes sense if you are looking for disposable furniture.Crate and Barrel used to have a reputation as a purveyor of *value* so it is sad to see that they are following the new trend of offering bi-cast/split/bonded "leather" furniture that is ultimately *not* a value when its extremely poor durability is taken into account. I am going to have to look elsewhere for leather side chairs. Please reconsider your strategy of selling bi-cast/split/bonded "leather" furniture Crate and Barrel! It will damage your reputation in the long-term.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big Disappointment! We bought 6 of the Folio Cherry Leather Side Chairs for our Dining Room. We have had them 6 years. For the first 5 years, they were fine, but last April, one by one they all started peeling. My husband got up after sitting on one of the chairs recently, and the red leather dye was all over his pants. I have never seen anything like it. Very disappointed! Figured they would last longer than 7 years, since they don't get used very much and are not abused.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sorry I bought these! See my review under the Ebony Folio chair! The leather on these chairs decomposes and cracks and peels away. So far I have replaced 3 of my chairs. I have 4 different colors and love the look but can't afford to keep replacing them at $250 a pop!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Good Product I had to return two chairs because of defective product. The bottom post (keeps a little distance from floor to leather) was broken off, which was something that could have been caught prior to shipping. How I found this out was the chair wabbled back and forth when sitting on it. It took some time, but they finally sent me a good chair. The look is superb for a modern home.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as sturdy as it looks We also bought 6 of these chairs 4 years ago, and thought that they would last a long time, as they fool you into thinking that they are easy to clean and sturdy. Unfortunately for us too, the leather started to peel off 2/6 chair,at the sitting area part of the chair and looks TERRIBLE. Don't be fooled- they are pretty and look like they can handle anything- but you will need to replace them within 5 years- if you use them regularly- especially if you have kids. and also- if you happen to brush the chair accidentally against the wall- it will leave a stubborn red mark.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beautiful, but not durable I purchased 4 Cherry Folio chairs and they are truly beautiful. However, two out of the four started to peel. Not bad at first, but then became worse as time went on. There were deep scratches (how, I have no idea). I went to the store with pictures in hand and they contacted customer service. Someone called me back within 24 hours and I forwarded the pictures. They were incredibly helpful! I purchased these chairs probably in 2008 and they replaced two with no problem whatsoever. I am noticing that one of the older chairs is starting to succumb to peeling now too. Hope the new ones are made with better leather than the old version.Hope Crate & Barrel gets these right, because these chairs are gorgeous and extremely comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love em! We bought four cherry chairs to go along with the Strut 70inch work table as a dining room set. While we have only used it a few times, they are comfortable and received positive comments. When I first sat in them at the store, I thought they were too hard, and moved on. When directed back to them by the sales consultant, my mind was changed. Being use to the soft "cush" of a chair, my mind needed to be opened to a change. The cherry is enough to accent but not an overpowering red. I find them sturdy, wipe off easy, have had no problems, and delivery was good in making sure all was right before they left.If any problems do arise, I have faith that CB will be happy to rectify it, even though this is our first furniture purchase from them. We are so happy with our purchase and have no regrets!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Like many of the other reviews we bought 4 of these chairs 6 years ago and they already need to be replaced. The leather has peeled and cracked. They look awful. I'm so disppointed. Don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best dining chairs we've ever had! WE LOVE OUR FOLIO DINING CHAIRS!!! We purchased them in the CHERRY color and they are simply beautiful! The chairs are a simple, understated, design, and bring an unexpected punch of color to our newly remodeled kitchen. They are comfortable, stylish, and easy to keep clean. Who could ask for more than that?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value/holds up well I bought four of these chairs in 2010. The color is just perfect as the red is rich and can work with blue reds or orange reds equally. Two years later they still look new and have not lost any structural integrity. Best yet, I bought two stools in January to match and the color is spot on. WAY TO GO, CB!
