Porcelian? I recieved Plastic
I've reread the description several times - it definitely says white porcelain. What I received is like Melamie and definitely plastic. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

TOO SMALL
Nicely shaped plate but too small.
Most appetizers and condiment will fill plate one time only. If you wish to change appetizers that are different sauces etc....you will want another plate.
Crate and Barrel....just make them bigger and they will be great.

Great plate
Always wanted a square plate without the sharp corner. This one is the perfect match. Plates are beautiful and hopefully will wear well. I purchased them for the big Thanksgiving gathering.

Nice plates
I purchased the plates for a shower gift, the plates were wonderful as expected.
The gift wrapping and box the 12 plates came in was not so nice. The box was big and awkward and it felt like to plates were going to break through the bottom. Very disapponted in the giftwrapping and shipping. I would never gift wrap again with Crate and Barrel.

Top Culinary Rating
My daughter is in culinary school and was delighted to receive these plates. I gave her 2 sizes: the smallest and the largest sizes. She thinks they are perfect. The color allows the food to be the main event, the shape is contemporary and stylish, and it matches any table setting.

Love them!
I purchased the 6 piece sets of 5", 8" and rotating white plates and 2 mini pitchers. I use many plates during the day, so I wanted a large supply and a variety of plates sizes. These coordinate nicely with my everyday dinner ware (another brand).
The packaging of the items was the best I have ever seen. I cannot believe the care that Crate and Barrel gave my purchases.

Fantastic purchase!!
The plates were amazing!!! We used them at a social gathering and everyone loved them. Large enough to handle a big meal!!!With US Marines attending our "cook in" the plates went well beyond the call of duty! Next payday I will be ordering another set!!! The style of the plates can blend well with other kitchen decors!!! Also the plates were well packed!! Please recycle all materials that you can!!! Crate and Barrel -well done!!!!

Adorable
I ordered the 5 inch plates to hold seasoned olive oil for bread dipping. It works very well for that purpose, Inasmuch as I'm trying to cut down on my portion sizes, this sweet little plate is accomplishing that.

Better Than Expected
These are the best plates I have in my collection. The reason I say that is because they are perfect for warming up left-overs and are so convenient that they are stacked near the microwave for easy access. They have a classic design and can be "dressed up" for dinner parties or used everyday for "heat and eat" meals. Love, Love, Love them.....

Great all purpose plates
We've only had these plates for a couple of days but we already really like them. All of them arrived by mail in tact. They are of good quality and are a pleasing shade of white (not too bright, not dingy). Food really does look better on white plates. I like that the corners are soft/rounded. Sharp corners on plates look clunky to me. I'd also be afraid the corners would chip off. One thing that's missing from the product description is the weight. That was important to me because I wanted a mid-weight plate (not too heavy and not too light). I weighed the small and medium plate with my kitchen scale. I haven't weighed the large plates yet because they are on backorder. Here are the results. The small plate weighs 6 1/8 ounces. The medium plate weighs 1 pound 2 ounces. I was told by crate and barrel customer service that the large plate weighs around 2 pounds.

Love these plates
These plates are great, we got them as a wedding gift. I love the simple, clean lines of the design, but better than that, these plates are solid. We've dropped them a few times and none have broken yet.
I have the 8" which is the perfect size for a reasonable meal. We also got the 5" plates but I returned them because they are very small -- too small even for a sandwich. But I do love the 8" ones!

Outriggers
We have used the small plates for several years. I especially like them for sides at dinner, things that you do not want to mix with on your dinner plate such as pickled vegetables or antipasto. My son calls them outriggers

Starting Over
After too many years of the same old, same old everyday dishes, I decided to start over. What better way than with an entirely new shape. I have always prefered white dishes, but with the new square shape, even the color seems fresh and new.
Thank you Crate and Barrell for displaying such great new ideas and shapes for my "middle aged" kitchen.

We love this plate!
It's the perfect snacking size and I may need to buy more; it's the first plate in the cabinet to all be in the dish washer. It's the perfect size for a small meal, a salad, a snack, or as a side dish. Buy this plate; you won't be disappointed!

Great Plates
I purchased the 5 inch plates. When I first purchased them, my husband dismissed them as one of my "wasteful" home purchases. Now, we both use them all the time! They are small, but perfect if you want a plate to eat a small dessert on, or any small tidbit. The design is super elegant-the edges are rounded so the plate isn't a hard square (which can look clunky). The material of the plate is super light weight. Id highly recommend these plates.

Perfect Little Side Plate
These were ordered to set my new footed soup bowls on. They came in record time and were extremely well packed. They are going to prove to be of many more uses...They are a perfect size for setting on the table for just about anything from bread and butter, to a plate to set wet iced teaspoons on, to lemon wedges for that iced tea, the used toothpicks at buffets, etc. The restaurant white is so classic, these can be used with any other patterned china.
