Kita Square Plate
$12.95
Square Plate. 5.5" sq.
Pure and simple. Clean Asian shapes have a thin, elegant feel and sophisticated color palette of subtle celadon and matte black. Porcelain is fired at a very high temperature, with the cooling process creating the beautiful crackling of the glossy glaze. This traditional artistic effect is food safe, though it may discolor when exposed to foods that can potentially stain until it is cleaned in an automatic dishwasher. Kita dinnerware also available.
- Porcelain
- Celadon crackle glaze interiors
- Matte black rims and exteriors
- Rinse quickly after use for best results
- Dishwasher- and microwave-safe
- Made in Japan

The Newlyweds Love Them!
I purchased this set for a couple who was getting married. They are beyond happy with the set and love the elegant simplicity of the dishes.

Great dinnerwar set
I use this set for my nicer dishes and I love them. They hold up well and I can put them in the dishwasher. I love how they are pretty neutral and I can coordinate other colors with the set depending on the occasion!

Love these dishes
We love our Kita dishes and serving pieces! Every time we have company we get compliments on them. They are functional and stylish and go with everything so you can change it up with colors for the different seasons! Highly recommend them!

Definitely agree that it stains with red things like tomato sauce. However, it easily comes out once you run it through the dishwasher if it even stains. We have just rinsed them after eating like I do with all dishes and there have been no issues. I would still recommend these plates since I really love them. I have combined them with some bowls from the Nuit collection and I love it!

We received this set for a wedding present. I love the simple and modern look of the dishes. They will match any color scheme. We use them everyday and they have been very durable. As other reviewers have said, the plates do stain with red sauces. However, the stains completely come off in the dishwasher.

Great Dinnerware
I love this dinnerware set. It's sleek, modern and beautiful. I love the detail and that it goes with many of our existing dishes. It's easy to clean, and even food coloring came out. There's only 1 downside, a few of the little plates have cracked a little in the microwave.

Poor quality
My husband and I received this dinnerware for a wedding gift last year. We have had them for a total of 4 months....yes, only 4 months and I have already had to replace three of the plates.
My suggestion is not to go with this set - they have not held up well at all and keep cracking down the middle with any temperature change. The plates are the main culprit, but I have had one bowl do this as well.
So needless to say, our first set of dinnerware already needs to be replaced in less than 6 months of our marriage.
Save yourself time and money and choose another set.

Chips and cracks easily
I'm very disappointed with these plates. We bought them when we got married about 4 years ago (had them on our registry, and bought them with the registry discount). Since then several of these plates have chips on the edges and 3 of them have cracks down the center. According to C&B these plates are dishwasher safe, but I have found that because they are so delicate, if you put them in the dishwasher you will certainly have chipped and cracked plates. The quality of these plates are extremely low and although they look pretty, they are not worth the price.

broke my heart
These went onto our registry as soon as we found them. The dishes are lovely shapes, colours, and apparently quality. But...
They stain quickly, unless you chug your coffee and snarf your food, which I more or less accepted because I loved them so much.
However, after about 4 years of fairly gentle use (two of us had mugs and salad plates for 12 and only occasional dinner guests), they begin to crack: our mug handles began dropping like flies and the salad plates split down the middle. I have never seen anything like it and we now have about 6 each.

Love the style, but the ceramic is flawed.
We received four of these off of our registry two years ago. At the time they were being discontinued, but I see they're back for sale, so maybe my point will be moot and the ceramic quality will have improved.
Upon receipt, I found the ceramic quality to be cheap in comparison to the other Kita pieces we received. Against better judgement, I kept these plates. Without any kind of dropping or damage on our part, two plates had big chips break off of them and a third has a crack that would be a chip one day soon, but I took it out of use so that I could return it. The fourth plate is still okay, but I imagine it will also break at some point.
The rest of the Kita dishes have been great, except for one tiny chip out of a bowl. But I do not see stress cracks in the rest of our dishes like I have in the square plates. It's too bad, as they're a great size, shape, and style. Hopefully C&B has fixed the quality issue seeing as the other reviewers have all given 5 stars.

Good dinnerware set with some minor flaws
We registered for and received 8 each of the dinner plates, cereal bowls, and 4 of the now discontinued small square plates. I inspected every piece upon arrival for structural cracks and only found one dinner plate to have a crack. C&B promptly shipped me another one and we actually have 9 dinner plates as the cracked one hasn't broken all the way thru yet.
I immediately noticed that the quality of the square plates was different from the rest of the set and should have returned right away. The ceramic feels cheap in comparison, like buying a cheap ceramic mug that winds up burning your hand off because it can't handle heat. I did not return them and now 2 plates had pieces break off and 1 is cracked to the point that it is unusable. The fourth one still exists but I know one day it's going to go. I don't know if the rectangular platter is made similarly to these plates or not, but just a warning. If the product seems sub par to you, return it.
Otherwise, two years down the line and we still like the dishes. I broke one bowl and another had a chip pop out along the side (not the edge) of the bowl. I'm going to take the chipped one in someday and get a replacement. The plates have all fared well.
We have had occasional staining from red or oily sauces. I've learned to immediately rinse/clean out the bowls after use in those cases. Then they can sit awaiting the dishwasher cycle without staining. The staining that has occurred faded and disappeared over time with use and washing.
Other than the square plates that I knew I should have returned, these dishes have help up and still look nice.

Great dishes
These are very simple looking a have a subtle design. They go with everything. The only issue I've had is that the coffee mugs are little small and the handle is too small. Otherwise, I love the dishes and would still recommend the set regardless of the coffee mugs.

Great plates and bowls!
My husband and I registered for this set for our wedding and five years later, we still love it. It's our daily dining set, but it looks elegant and modern when we have friends over for lunch or dinner. One tip: do avoid the microwave, as the cups have cracked a bit due to heating up liquids in the microwave. The serving bowls are nice and big and I've used them for homemade ramen soup.

Gorgeous Dinnerware
I'm a newly college grad and just moved into my first apartment. I wanted nice dinnerware but also something practical. This set is beautiful. It goes with everything and its timeless. The dishes are durable and can be used everyday.

Great Everyday dinnerware
Love this set. We registered for this set for our wedding. Great neutral design for everyday use. Be sure to rinse right away as I have noticed pasta sauce will stain plates and will need to be washed a few times to go away.

Beautiful, but very poor quality
I never thought by our 4 year anniversary we would need to replace our dishes due to breakage, staining, and visible embarrassing cracks on our dishes. These dishes WERE gorgeous but with everyday use, with just two of us in the house they performed horribly. I would not recommend these dishes at all. I have exchanged a few dishes but even those have visible cracks. My parents have had the same dishes for 40 years and they have MUCH less damage than we have on our dishes that we've had for 4 years. I would expect more from your dishes...

5 years and I still love these!
We registered for these for our wedding 5 years ago. I love them! We have had a few dishes crack, but not what I would consider to be unreasonable considering their age and daily use. I have not had problems with staining. I would still choose the same pattern today if I had to do it again.

Happiness....
My best friend said they were her dream dishes because she loves cracked glass and the pattern on the dishes looks like cracked glass. Anyway bought her 2 sets for her birthday and made one of her small dreams come true.....so far everyone is happy.

Avoid these. Lovely but won't hold up.
We bought these for when first married. Loved the design. Bought a set for 16. Everything. After several weeks we began to notice cracks, not just in the glazing as advertised, but structural cracks. About 1/3 of the dinner plates, cereal bowls, etc. The material just doesn't hold up. Sadly we're going to return this "otherwise lovely" set and exchange for something more sound.
