Real beauty
I'll give you the positives and things you might want to consider... that some might consider negatives.
First of all, I love this table. I was really nervous about ordering it online (I live in Oklahoma and we don't have any C&B's here). I asked lots of questions over the phone and felt confident, so when it came in the mail I was excited.
Here are my thoughts about it:
- this table is simple but rustic - not something that will go out of style or be trendy. I even think colors of wood go out of style, but this brown is a nice medium chestnut brown - not red tinted like some trends go. It is timeless to me.
- I hate cleaning crumbs out of cracks. I love that the "seams" of this table are smooth and sanded - no big cracks to contend with when wiping up (and yet manges to be rustic - yay!) There are bumps and imperfections, but they aren't like those machine scored tables that are supposed to be rustic, but look cheesy. Also it isn't a high gloss which I personally hate. One or two of the imperfections are a bit bigger, but still, nothing like a giant crack or something.
- I love that this is solid wood. The finish is soft (you can take a fingernail and easily peel off the wax) - but that is the nature of wax. Use placemats and trivets and you'll be all set. Never put hot mugs or anything directly on the finish.
- I actually used the table to knead some dough and the finish (the wax) came off on that part of the table. It looked dull and I was bummed out. I took a little mineral oil and rubbed it on the area and it cleaned right up and returned to the same dull sheen. I was thrilled. Exactly the kind of forgiving table I wanted.
- I am actually not worried about the wax scratching etc because I think it adds to the rustic charm. This is a table you will have a long time (heck you could even sand it down and refinish if needed - yay for real wood), so embrace the knicks and scratches. From what I can tell, mineral oil is a great way to rejuvenate the wood. I'll probably rub some on the whole surface every year.
I'm adding all this in my review because I couldn't see the table in person and would have liked this info before ordering.
Enjoy - I think you'll love it.

Beautiful Table, But...
The Terravida table is beautiful--I had searched for over a year for the perfect table and thought I had found it with this one. However, so many precautions must be taken just to set down to eat a meal on this table. If any cold or hot drink/plate is set on the table without a coaster or place mat -- it will leave a ring/spot. Just accidentally setting a warm burrito in a wrapper on the table for a minute left a rectangular spot. Extreme care must be taken for this table to maintain its beauty. I suppose this is fine for some, but not for a family like mine that spends most of our time @ at kitchen table not only for eating, but for visiting. Unfortunately I must concede to a full time table cloth to protect this table. It is a beautiful table, but I must say I am disappointed to see a dining table so sensitive.

Rustic and Elegant
Great table. I've combined it with the Basque Bench honey and it matches well - the color is quite the same, the legs have the same design and both bring a rustic touch.
The look of the wood is so beautiful I don't want to use table clothes... it's also very sturdy. It's on my breakfast room, so we use it daily and kids playing around all the time.
The best option I've ever found to have an "elegant farm" look.

Great looking kitchen table
Love our new kitchen table. We ordered this along with the Village Aged Walnut Side Chairs and while they are not a perfect match in terms of wood/color, we really like how they complement one another.
We have been careful not to write on this table as it will definitely leave an impression so be sure to use something underneath to protect it.
Caring for the table is a breeze so far - just a quick wipe down after meals is all we've done and its looking great.

FANTASTIC!!!!
The table is a great size for a condo/apartment with a formal dining area. It's the ideal combination of rustic and contemporary. I love the fact that it is made of recycled teak. I ordered this by phone after seeing it in the store, and the clerk was a little concerned that I may not like the grooves/markings, etc. from the recycled wood. On the contrary, it makes the table unique and charming. I've added a Red Pullman Bench, and the colors work. I could have gone for a cheaper dining room table set that included chairs, but it was important to me to find something more eco-friendly. Most furniture made of repurposed wood can be pricey, so this table is quite reasonable for what it is. I am really happy with it.
