Crate and Barrel is the first North American home retailer to work directly with the Tropical Forest Trust (TFT).
Since 2005, we have worked closely with the TFT to ensure that certain hardwoods selected for the production of our furniture are from plantations that are responsibly and socially managed for their long-term conservation.
Collections featuring TFT-supported teak and mahogany.
We have worked diligently and are pleased to announce that several of our teak and mahogany collections are now TFT–supported through the entire chain of custody, from harvest to final production. TFT–supported furnishings throughout our collection include the plantation–grown teak Pacifica dining collection; the solid mahogany Kipling barstools, buffet and hutch top; and the plantation–grown teak Blake media cabinets, home office, occasional chairs and accent tables.
Natural beauty in exclusive designs for every room in the house.
Our Teagan bedroom collection is handcrafted with centuries–old Chinese joinery, using no nails or screws, in durable bamboo–one of the world’s most renewable plants. The amber glow of the Basque dining, accent table and media collections derives its beauty from eco–friendly mango wood, at one time discarded after a short fruit–bearing life. In addition to Basque, we are also pleased to offer the natural beauty of mango wood throughout our collection, including Cabria dining, Dawson bedroom and Faulkner media.
We are also excited by our innovative designs featuring reclaimed and repurposed woods—from as far and wide as buildings no longer in use in China to telephone poles from rural Brazil—which add character and a global sense of history to our Paloma dining, Atwood bedroom, Hendrix and Phoenix home office, and Seguro media and accent table collections.
Living green every day in the kitchen, bed and bath.
Sustainable bamboo is naturally anti–microbial, making it ideal in the kitchen for our Bamboo Cutting Boards, Bamboo Dish Rack, Bamboo Bowls and more. Renewable acacia wood lends the character of its active grain to beautiful Acacia Salad Bowls and Acacia Chip and Dip serving, as well as our eco–friendly reissue of the award–winning Salt/Pepper Mills originally designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk™.
For casual entertaining, our Miguel and Granada drinkware patterns get their hefty, rustic character from recycled glass.
This is only the beginning. There are many, many more eco–friendly products throughout our collection.
