Great style AND value!
These shelves are perfect! I have a fairly small living room and purchased these to replace an armoire and a bookshelf. What a difference! These shelves are incredibly functional while taking up very little floor space. The espresso color is rich and the shelves are well made. I was nervous the shelves might not hold a lot, but they actually hold quite a bit. The top shelves, in particular, are the perfect depth for DVDs, and the rest of the shelves hold books of all shapes and sizes. After looking for over a year for shelves for this wall, I couldn't find a greater value for what you get with these shelves. You just can't beat the price for a unit that covers the expanse of a wall -- and looks this good! I do have to mention that once the shelves were assembled, I found a tiny nick in the wood, right in front, which was colossally disappointing, but, at that point, they were assembled and I was just ready to be done. I did attach them to the wall. I also went to my hardware store and got rubber strips (located with the felt dots and plastic moving discs) to add even more stability on the wooden floors. Also, these shelves were easy to assemble (never again will I purchase ready-to-assemble furniture from other stores!). Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase.

Beautiful Accent
I purchased this shelving unit for the living room of my new house. I was looking for an accent piece to compliment the espresso colored coffee tables I had already purchased from another retailer. I liked the size of these shelves. They look beautiful on the red walls with the cream colored sofas that we have. They are true to the color online and very easy to assemble. THey are sturdy and well-made. I highly recommend them.

Perfect!
I had been looking for bookcases FOREVER when I found these. They are absolutely perfect, they are a great buy for the price. I live in a loft with hardwood floors and I was concerned that I would have to bolt them to the walls (my landlord would not approve!). However, they are very sturdy and I have not had to bolt them. The espresso color is fantastic and I have received a ton of compliments! Definitely worth every penny!

Love the contemporary design!
We have enjoyed our bookcases from day 1. The contemporary style lets the color of the walls behind them shine through, and brings sophistication to the room. The bookcases are also quite sturdy, as we've moved ours around quite a bit already, and they're still solidly together. Highly recommended!

Awesome Appearance
Great color (espresso). Sexy appearance. Lots of storage; very functional and a great look!
2 complaints:
- Thin veneer. Be careful.
- Lousy wall attachment. Seriously---only a zip tie and a screw that anchors to the wall. Not a lot of thought on this.
Complaint that's my fault: shows dust easily due to the dark color.

Sleek look, tons of room on shelves
These are great. We added them to our dining room as our sort of mini library for the house. The shelves lean against the wall, but can be anchored to the wall so there is no fear of them falling. The shelves at the top are a bit small, but by the time you get to the bottom, they are a very generous size. The color matches the other Crate & Barrel furniture we have in the room perfectly.

Great bookcase for the price
The product arrived very fast and VERY securely packaged. I was able to assemble the book cases by myself in about 30 minutes per bookcase.
You do need to anchor them to the wall. I would recommend anchoring each bookcase, even if they are attached to each other.
The bookcases look great, provide a lot of storage and don't take up a lot of space.

Attractive and functional for a good value
We bought these bookshelves several years ago. We needed storage for our home office, where we intend to one day put a pull-out couch to double as a spare bedroom, so we needed something with a slim profile but high capacity. This trio of ladder style shelves fit the bill perfectly, and at the right price. My husband and I together were able to assemble them pretty easily. They hold a large quantity of books and decorative items. The fact that the wall behind will show through as a backdrop to your displayed items can provide some real visual interest, especially if your walls have color. Right now we have the three ladders grouped together as a bank of shelves, but I love that they are modular and will allow us to rearrange our storage in the future. These are a great value for minimalist, versatile shelving.
If you plan to use on a hard surface (wood, laminate, tile), expect that the base might slip a bit unless you use the wall-mounting hardware included. I don't think this would be a problem on carpet, but we have pergo floors and it was an issue. Alternately, we bought grippy rubber furniture feet (from a home improvement store) and attached them to the base, and that eliminated any movement and they sit very securely without any wall hardware. Note that the top-most shelf is fairly narrow and doesn't offer as much vertical space, so its better suited for small paperbacks, books displayed on their side, or other small items -- but the other shelves will accommodate books of all types and sizes.

Love the look!
I bought this bookcase for my living room where I didn't want anything that would be big and bulky darkening up my room. This is perfect! During the assembly I had some problems determining what was top and what was bottom. It would have helped if there were more specific instructions and labels. Otherwise I absolutely love the look and so glad I bought it!

Gorgeous Spacesaver
I bought the desk, bar, and two bookcases to fill a bare wall in my large living room, and I absolutely love the set! Not only is it well built and sturdy, but it also looks fabulous if you're going for a modern/contemporary look. The only minus is that there isn't a great deal of storage if you have a ton of books, especially not if you want to dress it up with vases/knick knacks. However, I'm overall extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend it. Now I'm off to get the red leather Pullman armchair to go with the desk!

Amazing display!
Even though it can be a little tricky to put together, it's definitely worth the effort. It shows off your collection better than anything I've ever seen, and it is an incredible bargain!!!

Awesome Bookshelves
I have been looking at this bookshelf for a few months now. I wanted to get something different and something that would go with my decor in my home office. I had never bought any items from Crate and Barrel but really loved the things that I saw on the website. Well, to make a long story short, I love my bookshelves. The quality of the construction is awesome and these are definitely shelves that I can keep for a very long time. There is more than enough space to put all of my books and magazines. The assembly did not take long and the instructions were very easy to understand. I am so glad that I decided to purchase the set of three because they take up just the right amount of space on one of my adjoining walls in my office. PERFECT!!!

Great Shelves
My grandma bought me a set of 3 of these bookcases and I absolutely love them. I have wanted them for some time and shopped everywhere for the best deal. These are the best by far!!! I (single mom) put all three together in about 45 minutes, VERY EASY!!! I recommend these, you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This bookcase looks wonderful!
I put this bookcase together by myself and it was pretty easy. (59 year old female).
The bookcase is beautiful, takes most of the wall I put it on, and enhances all the items stored on the shelf. I looked around and thought about purchasing this item for quite some time. I am so pleased with it and would highly recommend it. It is very classy.

great value + look -- and easy to assemble!
i purchased these after seeing a set in my friend's house. i absolutely love them! they're so easy to assemble and hold tons of books. they also look fantastic -- very modern and sleek, but still with a hint of traditionalism. i had been looking for bookshelves for nearly a year -- the sloane system was worth the wait.

Form Meets Function
These shelves look great in our living room and provide a perfect spot to display some of our favorite things. The bottom shelves are just the right size for books, boxes and baskets, and even fit our stereo system. The upper shelves are great for framed pictures and other small decorative objects. The mahogany stain looks really rich too. One thing to note -- an automatic drill/screwdriver makes assembly much easier.

Sturdy, Versatile, Streamlined
I am a frequent Crate shopper. I purchase from all categories -- furnitre, ready to assemble, housewares and outlet. Overall, this is one of my favorite purchases.
The shelves are surprisintgly sturdy ,were easy to assemble and can exist harmoniously in most any decor. They have just enough presence -- understated but useful to showcase other design elements.
