Great looking and great quality
We purchased this set for our study room. It fits perfectly. Quality is very good. It took about two hours for my husband to put everything together. It doesn't hold as much as the conventional book cases because of the leaning design, but that's not a issue for us.

Solid Construction Supports Your Stuff in Style!
We were definitely bookcase-challenged, and Sloan fit the bill perfectly. Small footprint for tighter spaces, the graduated shelves are really nicely sized to hold a myriad of your personality in nick-nacks and more! The open, almost airy feel to the shelves makes these bookcases a clean and light addition to any room. We chose not to place them flush against each other, but instead opted to separated them by about 5" of space, giving it extra architectural interest. They are packed so well in their boxes and they assemble easily and logically. Even the included hardware comes labeled in a foolproof blister pack! The only thing we wished was that there was a medium wood finish available. We opted for the white (a little too bright and white, really) because the espresso was just too dark. There are fun colors now available, but they're primaries, lending themselves to very modern decor or to children's or teens' rooms. The beauty of Sloan's design is that, if it came in more traditional finishes, it could easily make the leap to match any style room. Overall, thrilled with the whole process, from unpacking, through assembly, right up to how solid they stand on the floor as they lean against the wall (we won't be worrying about them tipping...if you have small children or extremely rowdy animals that scamper about, they provide you with solid anchors to attach the bookcases directly to the walls, but for just us adults, we'll let them lean and be fine with that!). You'll be quite thrilled with this purchase! If this is an example of how Crate & Barrel approaches furniture, we'll never hesitate to purchase from them in the future!

Couldn't be happier!
I purchased the set of three Sloane White leaning bookcase shelves. Assembly was super easy, the engineering of the product would not allow you to place the shelves incorrectly. They even had pre-drilled guide holes for connecting them together if you chose to do so. Finish is excellent; a flawless easy to clean white. Customer service was also "above and beyond" expectations, contacting me with updated delivery information on a couple occasions.

Nice look for a not huge space!
We have been furnishing our 1950's bungalow, and needed shelving for at least some of our book collection. Our challenge was putting a shelving unit on a wall that frames part of our dining and living areas, but would not be too heavy a look. Our overall style is sort of mid-century eclectic, if that makes sense, and these were a great compromise for us. They fit on the wall, do not impose on the space, allow adequate clearance between our dining table and the bookcase and can store books and some items we'd like to display. An added bonus is being able to see some of the wall color through the shelves. We haven't decided yet whether we will join them together or place them 5" apart. I gave 4 stars due to the fact that there were a few imperfections in the materials (a few light dents). The white is a true white (though not bright white), and the finish is a nice, sprayed semi-gloss. The pieces went together easily, though we did take care to put the pieces on a carpeted surface while we were putting them together to keep from scraping the paint. We decided it wasn't enough to make us want to return them.

The Sturdy Sloane Space Savers
The Sloane bookcases are modern, classic, and traditional all at the same time. They are made to last and have a beautiful white finish. Their versatility really sold my husband and me on this product. You can arrange them to fit the needs of your space. This is an excellent purchase and we would highly recommend the Sloane Bookcases!

Great!...but...
These shelves are great. They don't hold as much as you'd expect, but if you stack books horizontally (i.e. not with spines out) you can get more on them. It's not as attractive, but oh well. Anyway, we live in an old house with baseboards and the bottom shelf of the units laid on top of the baseboards (the bottom of the bottom shelf is only 8" off the ground, FYI). So, we put a 'riser' beam across the bottom to raise them above the baseboards so the shelves would be flush against the wall. Then we anchored the units to the wall. Once they were loaded they proceed to shift off the risers, but luckily haven't detached from the wall at the anchor point. lesson learned (but they looked like they were over all the baseboards in pictures...must have been shown with small baseboards!). Head's up!

Looks AMAZING and extremely useful too!

It was easy to assemble and set up and it provides great "storage" space for my crafting materials. All that plus it looks fabulous too! It worked so well for my space that I ordered a second set (I made two purchases of the sloan leaning bookcases/ w/ desk)."

Fit and Functional
I recently moved house and needed a place for my collection of books. A wall in my dining room between two windows measured a slight bit more than the three sloane bookcases. The product assembly required concentration, but when I made mistakes they were easy to correct. The shelf itself is light weight and sturdy. The varying shelf depths hold everything from small paperbacks to coffee table books to pictures and baskets. The sloane shelves make my wall seem like a built-in library.

Great Bookshelf
This is really a great bookshelf for the price. I bought the set of three in white, and I think it would go with just about any decor. It looks great in my small office, doesn't overpower the room. The assembly was fairly simple. The only thing I don't care for is the ugly plastic straps to attach the shelves to the wall, I will definitely be placing something in front of them to hide them.

Sloan Bookcase/Desk Combo
We have the Sloan leaning bookcase/desk/bookcase combo and we love it! We have a small space with one long wall that was underutilized. We put the system on the wall and now it is a fully functional space without taking up much room! It is awesome!

An Organizational Must!
I purchased this set of three leaning shelves in the espresso color. The shelves arrived on time and in great condition and the assembly was fairly effortless for such large furniture. The shelves take up little floor space and the open design is really flattering and streamlined. The have allowed me to organize media, books, and small decor items. I put these in my home office and it has set the tone for the room with its streamlined, modern, and organized look. I love them and have thought about getting the leaning desk too!
