Quality Furniture
This is a functional, attractive piece of furniture. The quality and value are excellent. Ease of assembly and materials used for assembly are also impressive.

just okay
For the price, you'd think this would be better. It's a good solid heavy desk, but it has its issues - at least mine did. It came without one of the dowels; it had some scratches on the surface and a chip from a corner; the drawer doesn't sit as securely as it should. It could be pretty good but this one was off.

Exactly What I Wanted
I purchased the Landon desk as a replacement for a big, bulky desk that I purchased in college. It was simple and quick to assemble, and arrived in perfect condition. Keep in mind that it is a small desk, which does not have much storage. However, it's perfect for a few random papers and a laptop computer. I am very pleased with it, and will likely buy the rest of the set.

Nice Desk but unnecessarily difficult to assemble
This is a very handsome desk, sturdy and with a large keyboard-shelf/drawer which makes it even more spacious and useful than its actual size. The finished product is of good quality.
But the construction of the kit is really pretty sloppy. Some holes are too small and need to be re-drilled and others are slightly out of line making inserting screws a problem. The illustrations in the assembly directions are very unclear and make assembly a kind of trial and error guessing game.
There is no reason for this kind of sloppiness. I'd happily pay a little more for a product that was manufactured more carefully but I think it's more a matter of Crate and Barrel demanding that their suppliers do a better job.
That said...after a very sweaty and annoying several hours spent doing what should have been a 45 minute job was forgotten I am pleased with the desk.

Bad experience
I received this desk for Christmas, it arrived broken. When we returned it to Crate and Barrel and another arrived (this time by February, which doesn't technically have anything to do with my review of the desk, but C&B in general) the second desk was also broken. It took three tries to get a desk that wasn't broken.
Finally home, and assembled I quite like the desk. It's functional and lovely in my room. I just wish it weren't so poorly made as to arrive at my door broken twice.

Landon bookcase
Good looking oak bookcase. I assembled it by myself. The directions for assembly were clear--no real guess work involved. To be honest, the quality of this piece is better than I expected.

Great classic desk
The design, finish and fit are all exceptional. The desk assembled without too much effort and the instructions were detailed and easy to follow. When the assembly was finished, the furniture looked like it had arrived fully completed. We are thrilled with how this desk looks in our study.
