Great for home office
I have found difficulty finding pieces for my home office that were highly functional, well-made and still had some style. This compact office piece fits the bill. The glass top provides great looks and functionality, and the size, quality and design are just what I was looking for. Bravo Crate & Barrel!

defective hanging
the filing cabinet was bigger than expected. but after about 3 months the metal brackets that hold the files to hang, dug a groove in the wood beyond the intended notch, so now the files do not hang correctly. for the price i would not expect that

Great piece of furniture
We picked this up from the store in just five days from ordering it over the phone and this saved us a lot of money on the shipping fee. It took several hours to assemble it but it is gorgeous and sturdy and very classy looking. It looks better than it does on the website. The drawer is spacious and the construction is very good.

Good multi-function desk but assembly terrible
I have significant experience in assembling products of this type. I can say this desk was the worst I have ever encountered to assemble. The instructions were poor and many holes were not pre-drilled and required the use of a hand drill to create pilot holes.
My desk had a defective front door panel. I contact Crate & Barrel to ask for a replacement. I was sent one via 2nd day air. The service department was professional, courteous and helpful. I cannot say enough about how good they are.
Unless you have some basic tools and understanding of this type of furniture, I would suggest you purchase something else. However with that said, the desk is very practical and useful once assembled.

Just what I needed
I needed an additional piece of furniture to add to desk and lateral file along 1 wall of my study so that I could spread phone/printer/router etc out more and also provide additional filing space. The exisitng furniture is cherry and I couldn't find anything matching in the right size. This item is exactly the right height and width so fits perfectly. Delivery was quick and assembly was very easy - completed in less than 30 min. It is sturdy and the drawers work smoothly.Black color works with other items in the room. A great purchase!

ASSEMBLY? THIS WAS A KIT.
ENDED AS A USEFUL COMPACT DESK, NOT CONSIDERING THE 3 HOUR ASSEMBLY, PLUS UNPACKING. FIRST, WHEN UNPACKING, THE BITS OF STYROFOAM SCATTERED OVER THE ROOM (LITERALLY) AND EACH DESK COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE VACUUMED (PLUS BITS OF STYROFOAM DUG FROM THE LUBRICATED TRACKS WITH A PLASTIC FORK). NEXT, THERE WERE 121 (COUNT THEM FROM THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS) COMPONTENTS AND FITTINGS SPREAD ON THE FLOOR (INCLUDING A FEW SPARE FITTINGS). FINALLY, ONLY 1/2 OF THE SCREW HOLES WERE DRILLED IN THE DRAWERS (IN THE MOST DIFFICULT / IMPOSSIBLE AREA TO WORK) . IT WOULD HAVE BEEN KIND OF YOU TO DESCRIBE THIS AS A 121 PART KIT, RATHER THAN SIMPLY 'ASSEMBLY'. YOU COULD HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS.

Beautiful desk
Lovely piece. Unfortunately, the instructions leave a bit to be desired. Pieces should be clearly labeled to match what's the instructions, which need to be broken down much more than they are currently. I had to read them several times before I could figure what parts they were referring to, because nothing was labeled -- and I have put together a lot of furniture lately, so I know it wasn't me!

Stylish Office Accessory
This desks works great in my office. I ordered one for my assistant to have a workspace of her own. It looks good in the office and it fit into a tight area. It adds a a stylish look to the office and as a desk it is vary self contained. We use the slide out shelf for a laptop that stays in the location and have had no problems with it. In fact I have recently ordered a 2nd one and use it as a coffee table. The coffee pot and glasses sit on top and the sugar, coasters, napkins, ect sit on the slide out shelf. It looks better then the the other table and matches the other furnature in the office. I would recommend it.

Glad I Didn't Set It Up!
I love this desk, it fits my awkwardly arranged office perfectly with it's narrow width and pull out work surface. Apparently putting the desk together is a nightmare, I think it took my mechanically inclined husband at least two hours. The desk is heavy and solid, although one improvement could be making a locking mechanism so the sliding computer/keyboard tray didn't have to be continuously readjusted when being used as a work surface. The deep drawers are very nice and fit more than what I need at my desk.

Nightmare to assemble
We are very handy and are used to assembling furniture, doing wiring, plumbing etc. This piece is a nightmare to build because the steps as ordered prevent lining up later pieces.
I bought this to coordinate with a desk & the desk is beautiful & easy to build. This piece is shown in the online picture with the desk, but the cabinet is more black in color & does not have the grain in the wood that the desk has. This piece is not C & B quality, and much too expensive. I gave good review to the desk.

Nice Desk
We found the assembly of this desk to be pretty simple. It is a heavy piece of furniture so it is good to have an extra set of hands to help with putting it together. We like that there is a lot of space for storage inside the drawers. The keyboard slide out drawer is our favorite feature because it is big enough to fit a lot more than just the keyboard and mouse.

Superb Quality!
I received this item as a gift, and was so excited because it matched the rest of my office furniture. The quality of the craftmanship is excellent, and it's sleek and modern styling always gets compliment from visitors. I love Crate and Barrel products!!!!

I've considered buying another
Once its assembled (which takes a while), it looks great and works well. Using the screw driver they provide is not recommended....I'd recommend using a power drill. The assembly directions could've been a bit clearer but compared to other things I've put together on my own I'd say this was the best so far. Having a friend help would cut down on the time. The price is a bit high, but I think its a very solid product and one I've considered buying another....this time I'll have my husband put it together :)

Just Right
We chose this cabinet because it fits perfectly inside the legs of our C&B leaning bookshelf/desk, which we actually use as a printer stand. The file drawer is wide enough to accommodate all our files and the top drawer works great for paper, staplers, tape, etc. It's proven to be a perfect, clean and efficient solution to our cluttered home office area.

Nightmare to assemble
While this product looks great and is quite functional, it's very tough to assemble and may be subject to some quality issues that you would not typically associate with Crate & Barrell.
Here is my advice If you decide to purchase this: print the assembly instructions from the website (mine came with two sets of French instructions), expect a lot of Styrofoam pellets to be stuck in the metal drawer tracks, use a power drill to screw the many screws, don't do it alone and plan for much more assembly time than you would expect.
I bought two. One came with a flaw - a white seam shows along the front of the pull-out shelf. The second one cracked twice when I screwed two pieces together and a wooden dowel pushed through the back of a leg.

Very Nice
Love this but would have preferred if there was an option to have it delivered assembled. I have a smart husband so he figured it out and the job was done in about an hour. It looks very nice in his office.
