The Story

The familiar lines of classic Italian design reinvented with comfort and value in mind. At a glance, you notice the generous, clean Parsons-style lines and fine quality leather in a warm oyster. Up close, it's the small details that make the big difference: solid welded steel frame, full wrapping in aniline-dyed leather with mitered corners, and seat and leg with full flange seaming. A thick, sculpted leg supports the comfortable, foam-cushioned seat. Chip-resistant paint coats the grooved steel footrest providing traction, durability and ease of care.

Folio Chocolate Leather 24 Counter Stool is rated 4.2083 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend We purchased 4 counter height chairs and they have all cracked at the top of the back rest plus the seats and back rests have finish which has rubbed off. I submitted a review last month with photos but it was removed from the site. Maybe this review will not be pulled since I've not included photos. Crate and Barrel is a great store and I do not blame them- this was a manufacturing isse. I thik the manufacturer should take responsibility.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality for a high price Like the other reviewers, I had the same experience with the top of the backrest tearing and wearing off after a short time. Was extremely disappointed. I even called C&B for them to recommend a leather restorer. They provided me with a number and the person never picked up the phone nor did he respond to texts. What a shame. Will never purchase leather furniture from C&B again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the Look BUT..... We purchased these bar stools for our newly renovated kitchen and loved the design. However after using them daily for year or so, the finish started rubbing off!! We tried to recondition them and it did not work. So I would highly recommend not purchasing these if you plan on using them often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these stools We've had three of these stools (and a backless one) around our kitchen island for a couple of years now. They are very comfortable, require virtually no maintenance, and still look great . They were also one of the best values we found.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had these for 10 years -- still in good condition We bought 5 of these counter stools in ebony about 10 years ago.  They looked great and were super comfortable.  My husband and I spent many hours sitting on these stools and working from home.  My husband is 5'11 and these fit his size really well.  I was a bit too short for them (I'm 5'0) so I had to put a little cushion so I would be at the right height relative to the counter.  I am really surprised about the reviews that said their stools didn't last very long and that the leather didn't wear well.  Ours were in good enough condition that when we sold our house, the new owners actually bought the counter stools from us (they went really well with the counter and the style of the kitchen).  I think we applied leather conditioner on them maybe twice during those 10 years and, of course, wiped away any spills right away.  But otherwise the leather wore well and the stools really held up.We just moved into a new house that we built and were planning on buying 5 more of these for our new kitchen (in brown this time).  I sure hope the C&B didn't change the build and leather of these because we really got our money's worth with the last ones.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice looking but did not hold up I purchased three of these counter stools 5 years ago. Initially, they looked terrific at our kitchen counter and we sat on them every day to eat breakfast. They are comfortable, however the leather is not of good quality (it is bonded leather) and has cracked in several places, especially on the backrest. On one of the seats, the leather-ish finish has come off. Since we are a household of just two adults, I would have expected these chairs to last longer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice style, poor quality We bought 2 bar stools and 8 dining chairs about four years ago. We love the style but they have not held up well at all. The bar stools are used every day and the leather scratches easily. They were completely worn out after 2 years and had to be replaced. We bought 2 others and they are now very worn out. The dining chairs are now starting to show similar wear. It's as if the leather rubs off the chair. Everyday scratches are fine. But this is complete wearing out of the material and it can't be restored with leather conditioner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great barstool I was looking for a barstool that was easy to get into/out of, has contemporary/clean look, and had a sturdy footrest that wouldn't look all scuffed up after a few uses. This was the stool that met all those factors. Initially, considered swivel stools, but didn't need it with this one as the leather allows easy entry/exit. Many stools had footrests that I wouldn't want anyone using for fear of scuff marks. This footrest is steel (but attractive) and so resists ugly looking marks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and comfortable Striking chairs - but classic, not trendy. Tall back at a good angle makes them comfortable to sit it. Easy to keep clean, except for that little gap where the back meets the seat (tends to collect crumbs). Could wish the actual surface areas of the feet were broader so furniture glides affixed more easily, but that's a detail. Love the chairs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great stools I bought these 4 years ago as our everyday stools and they still look great. They have some scratches from normal wear from 3 little boys but the leather is very strong and sturdy. You can't see the scratches unless you look very closely. They clean mostly well except for the bottom/back crease, which is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. The get crumbs stuck back there and it's kind of hard to clean them out. Otherwise I'm very happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great daily stools! We purchased three of these stools to go with our new contemporary kitchen. They are very simple and understated, yet look substantial. The feature that I like most about these stools is the black plastic covering the leather footrest. Clearly a leather footrest would be impractical, so C&B solved that by placing this textured plastic cover. It doesn't take away from the aesthetics of the stool, yet protects it. This solution is FAR better than our previous wooden stools. The footrest on those stools became worn quickly. So far, we've had these stools for about a year and they wear well and are easy to clean. The only thing I will mention is that they aren't overly "cushy". We use them as our primary seating in our house and after a while you need to stretch. But, I'd rather do that than have a frumpy looking cushioned stool in my kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE Them Fell in love with these stools the minute I saw them - since I have a small 1950's kitchen they don't have the bulky look that most stools have - They were out of my price range, but I cut elsewhere and am so glad I did -

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent These chairs are wonderful. Surprisingly comfortable and they make a pleasant accent in the kitchen. I was initially put off by the price but I'm really glad I went for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality, comfortable, well-designed counter chairs I recently purchased two custom-ordered cherry red leather counter-height Folio chairs for my desk; these chairs joined four other Folio chocolate leather counter-height chairs we bought last year for the kitchen island. We are repeat buyers of these chairs because they are beautifully designed for a contemporary home, extremely comfortable and wear well. We receive compliments every time guests sit down.
