Smart desk
I like this desk, it's very functional. It has a lot of parts though and took a little longer to assemble than other C&B furniture. But I wouldn't say it was too bad. The only thing I disliked was too much packaging material and a million styrofoam bubbles which stuck everywhere. C&B seems like a sustainability-conscious company but I wish they would use smarter packaging in all of their products (I know they do use smart packaging when shipping something).

home office
Nice when put together but it needed two people to construct. Definitely have to turn desk upside down to put in bottom drawer. Directions not crystal clear. Read very carefully. Very nice sized filing drawer and storage. It takes up very little room in our retreat. It is well made but had a few nicks when delivered.

My client was delighted
I designed an office with a small reception area that required a piece of furniture
that looked contemporary, functioned as a desk, had room for supplies and files, fit the
space and my client’s budget. I found the Reese Compact Office Desk. It was perfect and my client absolutely loves it. It set the tone for the whole office. The top is a smokey tempered glass. Below the glass is room to put a laptop computer, ipad or keyboard on the pullout shelf. Simple assembly was required, but well worth the extra effort.

Worst Purchase EVER
I am out over $400 for this piece of junk! It is extremely difficult to attach the pull out keyboard board to the body of the desk and I could not even access the last hole for the 4th screw to attach it. The glass top does not sit level in its recessed bracket.

Very Nice!
Product is just as it looks in the pic...very nice and good quality. Drawers pull in/out easily and are good size. The desk is petite and coordinates nicely with the previously purchased Drake Desk to complete my husbands "Office Suite" as he needed more work space.

Beautiful piece, but...
I love this compact office! I think the quality is excellent; it is sturdy, attractive and exactly what I needed. I would definitely recommend buying it, but I did have two issues. First, I reached the step of attaching the keyboard tray and discovered it was slightly damaged. Not surprising considering that it comes in pieces and has to survive the delivery process. Problem solved, I called C&B and they will replace the damaged piece. Second, when it came time to attach the drawers and the keyboard tray to the glides/brackets, I couldn't find any pilot holes so that I could easily put the screws in. Now it seems I need someone with a drill to finish the assembly. Overall, excellent piece of furniture! Assembly is a bit confusing but worth the effort.

Satisfied Customer
I shopped for weeks looking for a filing system that was functional and aesthetically pleasing to look at. I purchased 2 and use them strictly for files in my home office. I wish that the delivery persons would have unpacked the parts as was indicated by one reviewer. That would have been great! Needless to say, I unpacked and assembled the 2 cabinets myself. The directions were easy to follow and the package that contained the screws, etc. was organized by each step. EXCELLENT idea! Too bad other companies don't do the same. Assembly was time consuming and very difficult for 1 person. Finished product was beautiful.

Gorgeous..... but beware!!!!
I have never written a product review, but feel very compelled to review this product. This desk is gorgeous, functional and a great quality. However, beware of the assembly required!!!! The other reviews stated, "minimal assembly, only needed to attach handles, etc......" this was NOT the case with our purchase. The desk came in a flat box with absolutely NO assembly. We had to build every intricate detail of the entire desk. I use "we" because the desk pieces were too heavy and cumbersome for one person to hold. The only thing we did not have to do was cut and stain the wood!
The assembly took hours! Every single peg and screw came in separate packages and were well marked. We were missing twenty of the long screws, I had to find replacements for these at my local hardware store in order to complete the construction. Crate and Barrel sent a new hardware package which arrived 3-4 days after the desk was assembled.
After it is all said and done, it is a beautiful piece of furniture and very functional for a small space.

JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
I couldn't be happier with the desk. It is just as described. Very nice quality, well worth the money. The delivery was just as scheduled when I ordered the item. The delivery person unpacked the desk and removed all packaging. The desk was double boxed with thick styrofoam inside and out I would not hesitate to buy from Crate & Barrel in the future.

Pleasantly surprised!
After viewing this desk in the store several times, I purchased it to use for my laptop in the family room. It is such a beautiful piece that it changed the whole look of the room. It is solid and very well made. Everyone that sees it loves it, especially me. If your debating on purchasing this desk, don't hesitate. I had to wait 3 weeks for mine, as they sell fast.

Beyond Expectations!
I am re-claiming a "junk-room," and turning it into my husband's "man-cave." The predomininant style is transitional, mixing both traditional and contemporary elements. I was somewhat limited in space, and was looking for a piece that could pull double-duty: laptop use and some extra storage. I bought this piece of furniture on line, based on features, dimensions and reading prior customer reviews. When it arrived and I unpacked it, I was absolutely delighted! Be sure to have the delivery team move it as close to it's final destination as possible- it is heavy! Not only is this piece very functional- it is beautiful! I couldn't be happier with the final product. The icing on the cake was the very reasonable price- this piece is a GREAT value for the money. Thank you Crate and Barrel!

I just love it!
This was going to be a piece of furniture bought for function, filing more than anything else. When it arrived, the color of the wood was a perfect match for my bed; simple, clean and the best part someone said it before- assembly required - I wish it was all done that way - unscrew the handles attached to the inside of the drawers and screw them back on, you are done! Delivery arrived on scheduled time and placed exactly where I wanted it! Seems lighter online than it is which is a plus for me. Never thought I would be doing this but kudos to you!

Great Piece!
I love this piece! It is beautifully made and fits perfectly in my home office. The roll-out shelf is surprisingly useful and the drawers are a perfect size.

Love this piece!
I never thought I'd be inspired to actually write a review for anyone... but I love Crate and Barrel furniture, and this is a great item. I looked and looked for something to put my computer on that would look ok in my living room (we have an open plan condo, with the dining area of the living room as my art studio / office and also must work as our dining room! It has to serve a lot of functions. I looked at a lot of products before settling on this. Mostly, other things were either far too big or just ugly and made from 'officey' materials. This looks like a piece of home furniture, not something in an office, and just 'blends'. I have it with the 'notch' work table and I slide between the two on a wheeled office chair and it works great! I am very, very pleased.

Great for small spaces
I'd been looking for a desk to fit in a small alcove in the small living room of our small condo and this desk is perfect! As the other reviewer noted, the only "assembly" required is the installation of the drawer handles. I was also pleased to discover that the glass top lifts out for easy cleaning. Very happy with the purchase!

Cannot beat this build for the price
After spending several months looking for a home office file cabinet/slide out computer desk, C&B came out with this, an item one third the price of one I almost bought from a competitor.
The build on this is solid, and though I cannot attest to its durability, is a true bargain. The assembly required is the most minimal: remove the drawer handles which are shipped screwed in to the inside of the drawer, and reinstall them on the outside. I was expecting more work!
