Awful, just awful
Agree w/ previous reviews regarding the sqeaky issue. Bought for Collette bed. Squeaks started after 4-5 months. Loud and extremely annoying. Made me hate the bed altogether. Would love to return it or trash it.

box spring alternative
We bought a platform bed (for use without a box spring) and our mattress proved unable to handle the upheaval. My husband's back problems instantly flared up. We just got the bunky board yesterday and are both hopeful that the extra support in bed will buy us more time before we buy a new mattress. Price was right and quality seems good. Delivery was timely.

Squeaky Squeaky Squeaky
The squeak problem has been getting worse, and now I finally realize that the bunky board is the problem. Whenever you move around in the memory foam bed there is an awful loud squeaking. After taking the bed apart and rearranging everything, it turns out that the bunky board is the problem. I can now just push on the board itself and it will squeak.
I would not buy this product. Next step is to contact Crate and Barrel for a solution.

Gives solid, supportive feel to bed
I ordered the Colette bed (also from C&B) and tried sleeping on it with and without the bunky board. I really like the extra support of the bunky board. It makes my bed feel more solid and stable underneath my mattress. If I never tried the bunky board, I don't think I would've complained that the bed frame wasn't supportive enough (it's fine), but now that I've tried sleeping with the bunky board I wouldn't want to go without! The 2" height also makes the sheets easier to change (and an added bonus is that the subtle increase in height makes the bed look more elegant!) If you're on the fence, and you can afford it, I would highly recommend it.

Bunky board does change appearance of bed
I ordered bunky boards to ensure a proper foundation for my twin mattresses. The bunky boards are slightly larger than the standard twin mattress and therefore can be seen sitting under the mattress. They could be hidden using bed skirts, but skirts do not suit the contemporary design of the room. We had to purchase fitted sheets that fit snugly over both the mattress and the bunky board to achieve a clean look.

Worst C&B purchase ever
We bought a nice bed from C&B and also bought the Bunky Board to go with it. However it turned out to be of poor quality, with cardboard which offers no support and which started to sag quite quickly. The worst thing is that the cloth and cardboard started to rub against each other and against the wood, making an annoying squeaky noise every time you move any part of your body when you lie in bed. Getting in or out of bed was even worse.

Worth the money
I purchased these because my daughter has a platform bed and it is always such a challenge to change the sheets. I use these along with the Tate bet and C&B mattress. I have never tried the bed without them so I can't speak to their impact on comfort but they certainly life the mattress just the right amount.

Great buy
This is just the right amount of support needed between my mattress and the slats of my bed to give the unit a solid, firm feel.
After just a few nights on my new bunkie board my back feels great. The bed has also stopped its loud squeaking when I turn over of get up in the night with this addition. The board also gives a 2+ inch lift to the mattress making it look more grand and easier to change the bedding.
Love it!

The Solution to my Problem Solved!
I was hesitant to purchase this item after reading a few negative reviews. However, I really had no other options so I thought I'd try it and see for myself.
I have a California King Size bed which uses wooden slats but requires a solid supportive foundation. A regular box spring would make the bed too high. So originally I purchased a set of 6inch low profile box springs. Still my bed looked undesirably high. I searched the net for a resolution but couldn't find anything here in the US. I thought I would just have to live with it or get a new bed. Then while browsing Crate and Barrel for household items, I found the Bunky Board.
After debating if I should buy, I made up my mind and made the purchase. The shipment was quick and simple! I don't know how anyone could complain about this product, unless they're not using them properly. I found them to be made with quality and I know quality when I see it and feel it. They're strong, sturdy, and solid. They are ideal for beds that sit too high with box springs. They are useful if your bed uses "slats", and requires mattress support. Bunky Boards create a solid foundation for your mattress. They don't make your mattress feel hard or less comfortable. Now my bed looks great. I don't have to run and hop to get get in bed anymore Lol.
This product is worth the money and I recommend them. I would buy them again and again. You're reading this review trying to make a decision just like I did. My advice, first do your measurements and then go from there. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. It was the solution to my problem, and it just might be the solution to yours also.

Nice Addition to My New Bed
I just purchased the king-size white Ledge bed, along with a king-size Crate and Barrel Beautyrest Special-Edition mattress. My husband and I put the bed together yesterday and slept on it for the first time last night.
The BUNKY BOARDS are a great addition! The king-size bed frame requires two bunky boards which fit easily on top of the wood slats of the frame. For a large bed, we wanted the additional stability and support that box springs normally provide, and the bunky board pallets fulfill that purpose. They provide a nice firm, non-slip foundation.
They also fill in the small gaps between the frame and the mattress so that there is no open space to the floor. In the long run, I think that having the bunky boards between the mattress and the floor will keep the mattress cleaner and less likely to accumulate dust from underneath the bed.
They are 2" high and do not interfere with the look of the contemporary low bed frame. They are made of light-weight pine slats wrapped in a thin damask padding. They are an updated version of the solid plywood planks that used to come with larger beds.
I don't think that a heavier, more substantial frame or thicker padding would provide any more support. It would just add to the weight of the bed. As with a regular box spring, the goal is to absorb movement and add stability, and it certainly feels like the bunky boards are doing that.
Imho, the bunky boards are worth getting because they help to distribute the weight, and they add strength to the bed. I was really tired of feeling all of the movement from box springs. These neat pallets add to the overall comfort of sleeping on a mattress without box springs.

Well-rested
I bought this bunky board to replace a box spring --after several tries with other options that left me unable to sleep well.
It is FANTASTIC! The bed is now exactly the right firmness. This is the best purchase I have made in a long time.

Worst bunky boards ever
These bunky boards are of such inferior quality that I am shocked Crate and Barrel carries them. The "heavy-duty cardboard" which wraps around the sturdy pine frame offers NO support whatsoever. There are great swales of about 20 inches between the frame supports that dip down at least one inch. There is no way that a mattress placed on top of these would not begin to sag. Also, I am returning them to the warehouse myself or else I would have been charged for the delivery truck to pick them back up.

king set bunkie board
this is a great product, i recently went to a platform bed and needed just a small platfrom to raise my matress above the wood lip on the platform, this was perfect and fits perfect.

Does its job well.
I have a bed with slats, making box springs unnecessary. But my 9" mattress sat too low for my taste. This bunky board should measure 2" but seems a bit thicker, which is fine with me. Now my mattress no longer looks like it is sinking out of sight into the frame of the bed. And it is much easier to get my hands under the edges of the mattress when changing the sheets. My mattress is made of latex and subsequently is heavy, so the bunky board has been of great assistance during linen changes. C&B had my bunky board delivered even earlier than promised during the ordering process. The delivery team was courteous and efficient. I couldn't be more pleased.

Seems alright!
I bought the bunky board with the Colette bed and mattress since it seemed like the right thing to do. I have no complaints and I'm so happy with it all I don't even care if it was a cheap upsell or not! I suspect it was the right decision, though. Much better to be snoozing contently instead of wondering "should I have bought it?" Right?

Raises the mattress, nice foundation
Having never tried a platform bed without this bunky board, I can't say anything for comparison. But it seems to be a great product. I like that it raises the mattress so you can get your hands in there to change the sheets easier. I also feel like it has to be a better foundation than just the slats on a platform bed, which is why I purchased it. Does it's job for a reasonable price.

Very thin cardboard base on not enough slots
We got a new mattress that comes with a recommendation for a solid base for our slatted base platform bed. Since my daughter has a bunk bed and the boards are very solid, we decided to get one. We couldn't find it locally, so we were excited when we found a queen size one at Crate and Barrel. What a disappointment when we got the delivery and noticed that it is just a very thin cardboard on just five horizontal and one vertical 2 1/2 inch slats. My daughter's full size boards have nine horizontal and one vertical 3 inch slats. Since we couldn't find the bunky board locally, we'll keep it, but I was expecting higher quality from Crate and Barrel.

Lifesaver
Why doesn't every store sell these? I bought this to go with the Jackson bed and my memory foam mattress, and it works perfectly. I was looking everywhere trying to find a platform bed that had more than just slats, but this was a much cheaper solution. Worth every cent. I was ready to give up and go out and buy a boxspring.

Good stabilizer
Well worth the extra expense for a bed that does not require a box spring. We tried our new bed and mattress for about a month, and noticed a big difference after we added the bunky board. Before we used the board, our mattress, while comfortable, shifted around when we got in and out of bed and when we moved around at night, to the point where the corner of our fitted sheet began to stretch and rip. The bunky board really helped to stabilize our mattress (and save our sheets!).

Best money I've spent in a long time!
Never knew these even existed! Our bed and the bed in one of our guest bedrooms were unbelievably high. They both have pillow top mattresses that are about 18 inches deep. We never thought about how these would work out in 'real life' till after we bought them. We almost had to take a running leap to get into our's each night and I had actually bought a little set of steps for the one in the guest bedroom. Then my husband had hip surgery and it got even harder for him to get into our bed. Found these wonderful bunky boards from C & B and we LOVE them. They solved the problem. Our beds are at a nice, normal height now and it's easy to get in and out of bed. I was also very happy at the reasonable price. A great item!
