very versatile

Perfect Room Divider
I have 2 of these, one on top of the other, so that they are wide and short enough to see over. They make the perfect room divider between the kitchen and the desk in the family room. They were well packed, and other than one surface having an inconsistent layer of varnish (which I was able to put out of sight on the bottom), they were in excellent condition. Assembly was straight forward but did take some time. They go together with dowels and cam-locks, and there are black buttons to hide the cams. I used a black felt pen to hide some small pilot holes in the back that are meant to be used with supplied brackets to join the units together. I found some baskets at another store that fit the cubbies that have backs, and am very happy with the result.

Sleek and stylish
I was looking for a long time for a bookcase like this one.
Pros: I like the unique style of this piece. It's not the traditional bookshelf. A lot of space for storage. Bought two, looks great. Great value.
Cons: Not easy to put together, but I wouldn't call it difficult. Not real wood but at this price, it's highly unlikely to find.
Overall, a great buy!! Received many compliments on it. "it looks like it's out of a magazine"

Versatile Piece
This bookcase is great for our apartment because it has open areas through which you can still see our floor to ceiling windows. I love that it can be upright or on its side.Very easy to assemble - the wood does not seem to flimsy even though it isnt real wood. Would definitely recommend!

Great product
We just bought this bookcase to use sideways as a TV stand and we absolutely love it. It's the perfect height and width, and worth every penny! I couldn't imagine finding a better value of a TV stand anywhere.

Great bookcases/entertainment center
We bought two of these bookcases and use one horizontally as an entertainment center with records, speakers, wii and dvd player in it and with our tv on top of it . The other we use vertically to store books and dvds. They can really hold a lot and are very sturdy. Assembly was also very easy.

more than what I expected
I purchased the shift book case online. I was immediately impressed when I was able to select the day of delivery. How awesome is that! Now the moment of truth was putting it together. I'm a woman you know, but guess what, I put it together and it is PERFECT! Need I say more. I love it, it gives the living space a nice modern touch. It is tall, heavy and sturdy. I'm so pleased!!!!

BEAUTIFUL, FUNCTIONAL AND WELL MADE
I love this audio visual/bookshelf. I was planning to assembling it myself, however, as I had two men mounting my television on the wall when I brought the shelf home, they did the assembling. It took them about 25 minutes,
The unit looks stunning underneath my tv, and the positive to negative spaces give it that extra special appeal. My PS3 and TIVO units are barely noticeable on the small shelves, which is what I was looking for. It looks like a very expensive piece of furniture. Yet, it was priced very reasonably. I have my beautiful statues, etc. on some of the shelves and on top, and mixed them with some beautiful orchids and plants. I am so pleased that I found the perfect piece of furniture. LOOKS GOOD
While some assembly was required, the media center looks very good and is holding our new 70" TV. It takes about 45 minutes to fully assemble.

Affordable, Sleek & Accommodating
I'm a young, recent graduate and I wanted to purchase a quality and affordable piece of storage furniture that could accommodate not only my tiny apartment in New York City but also my taste for sleek design. The shift bookcase/console fit the bill perfectly. It serves as a bookshelf, a wine shelf, a TV console and more. I place cute baskets in the box units so that I have even been able to store clothes and shoes within it. As I mentioned, I lived in a tiny NYC apartment and I've had to get very creative with using every square inch of the floorplan, but I wouldn't do without this bookcase/console.

This looks great horizontally in my living room as a TV stand/bookcase. DVD player fits perfectly inside. Assembly was not too hard, took about an hour.

Durable, Stylish, Useful
I purchased 2 of these for my living room, one for a bookshelf and one for the TV stand. I also purchased several Sedona Baskets to insert into both. I love how the baskets fit inside so I can hide all of the things I don't want to constantly look at. I hide my children's toys and DVD's in the tv console and I hide all of our books and photo albums in the bookshelf. It looks so organized and fancy. Although I had to asseble each piece, it was very easy and I actually did it by myself without any help from my husband.

Great value, great design
I purchased this book case to put under my wall mounted flat screen tv. It was easy to put together, holds a lot of stuff, and has a nice, modern design. It's not solid wood, but I wouldn't expect that at $199.

Perfect fit!
we found this media center after searching thru many local furniture. stores around Cincinnati. It is easy to assemble, about 45 leisurely minutes. We did not re ally want a piece of fine furniture, just simple good looking storage for media and a surface long enough for the big screen.

nice bookshelf, use care when assembeling
There were several substantial chips in the veneer upon arrival and some portions of the shelving had to be replaced b/c they were cracked. I recommend assembling this bookcase on a rug or carpet to prevent damaging the veneer as the individual pieces seem delicate. Once the bookshelf is assembled it is quite sturdy. Overall this is a nice bookshelf and I would purchase it again.

Combine for a divider wall
As others have said, these are great, versatile bookcases/media consoles. I combined three to create a divider wall in my studio, and it worked perfectly! It let in some natural light from the windows while providing enough of a wall to create a bedroom space and living room space. On the living room side, I had books and other little pieces from my travels and some hidden storage as it was close to the couch. On the bedroom side the back created a nice barrier without being too stark.
I really love these bookcases and got several compliments on them. I couldn't say enough great things about them! I paired them with the incognito desk which looked great and is a perfect combo for a small space. I've since moved (cross country too and they are still pretty new looking) and continue to use them now as two bookcases against a wall, and one on it's side flush against the backside of my couch... another great way to pair them!
Lastly, I put all three together myself so it can be done.

Wonderful TV stand/ book shelf
I bought two of these consoles and I placed them side by side horizontally along one of my living room walls. I place my 52" tv right on top between the two consoles, a table lamp on each corner and a cylindrical vase with flowers on each side of the tv without looking over crowded. Then I placed some weaved storage baskets inside some of the "cubicles" to store all remote controls (tv, dvd player and game consoles), and some others with console games and other items I wanted out of sight. In the other compartments, I placed picture frames, books, and some Buddhist decor. I was able to fit my dvd player, game consoles and HD cable box without a problem. Very sturdy and elegant looking, exactly what I was looking for. Everyone of my friends looks in awe when they see the final result... Very pleased, will recommend to anyone.

functional, solid piece
I purchased this in a lighter shade three years ago. Currently I am using it as a tv stand. The small compartments with the open back fit my cable box and dvd player perfectly and the other cubes hold books and display prints. I was hesitant about buying another piece of furniture that I had to assemble, but this was easy to put together and fits nicely with the rest of my furniture.
