A Versatile Look
My husband and I purchased the Bayside apartment-size sofa back in the fall in the Spruce color, which is really more of a sage-y hue. We have a relatively small ranch house and realized that we could gain eight inches of space by ordering the smaller Bayside versus the larger one, which would give us more flexibility in furniture placement now and in the future. Since our decor is eclectic, and none of our furniture "matches," we felt the Bayside's modern traditional look would blend right in with our coffee table, lamps, mission style media console, and side chairs.
Comfort was an important consideration because we use our living room to "live" in; we watch TV there and also entertain, and the Bayside is not only comfortable to sit on but to stretch out on, as well. It is not inordinately deep like many sofas, so it can accommodate people of any height. We chose the Spruce color to provide some contrast to the earth tones elsewhere in the room, and also to complement the array of colors in our area rug. The sofa matched the swatch exactly, but before we purchased, we looked at the Spruce (and other color swatches) in various light, because different times of the day, and different lamps, can change the appearance of colors considerably. Overall, with the addition of two throw pillows, the look of the sofa is welcoming, as opposed to one that is "hard" and sleek, the kind you might see in a loft apartment in New York.
I have three quibbles: The cushion where you sit the most has a slight "dent" when you get up. Smoothing it, or switching the cushions around, minimizes this. The cushion construction generally is superior to that of other sofas and not too soft, but with enough "give" to sink into. The other quibble is with the slipcover itself. The back of the sofa, which can be seen in our arrangement, has what I would characterize as a ripple, but we attributed this to the way slipcovers look (we never had one before) as opposed to an upholstered piece of furniture. Although the low arms are an update for the skirted sofa style, I need extra pillows for back support against the arm to stretch out and watch TV, which is easily resolved. I would deduct a half star for these issues, so my rating would actually be four and a half stars, but I would not hesitate to recommend the sofa, the sales support, and the timely (and careful) delivery service that we received.

quality furniture
I bought this apartment sofa and the matching swivel rocker. I had it upholstered in the petry color and I absolutely love the quality and comfort. The look is of brushed canvas, but much more comfortable. The firmness of the sofa, yet plush with the down wrap is exceptional. Over all very, very pleased

Wonderful Apartment Sofa
I absolutely love my new Bayside Apartment Sofa. It is comfortable and fits beautifully in my tiny 600 square foot apartment. The delivery guys were fast and efficient. They had to navigate a tricky staircase at my place; they did a great job.

Relaxed comfort
I have wanted this style of sofa for years. I looked at similar styles from all the other companies, but remembered sitting on this one in the Chicago store. Both my boyfriend and I found it very comfortable which I noted since we are very different sizes. It's seat is not too deep or too shallow. It is not too soft or too hard. I bought it and have not been disappointed; it's comfortable, easy to clean, easy to change looks with different pillows. As Goldilocks said, It's juuuuusst right! It was also imperative that it was made in the USA. Hurray! Home delivery was great and the customer service was fabulous.

Perfect FIt
After leaving all our big furniture from our family size home, we needed smaller, comfortable pieces for our downsized, open floor plan, patio home. This model was the perfect size and had everything we wanted in a sofa.
It's comfortable with just enough squishiness. All the cushions can be flipped to prevent uneven color fading. AND I like being able to remove and wash the slipcover or change to a different color if I want.
We've had this sofa for over a year, and haven't once regretted our purchase.

Love it, but...
I live in a 106 year old house that has slightly small rooms, so was looking for a sofa that was not massive like so many sofas are today. This one is perfect for that! And it's very comfortable.
My only issue with it is that my husband spilled red wine on the arm one night. I thought no problem, since the cover is removable and washable. A little spray n wash on the spot and it would be fine. Well, it isn't. The spray n wash actually changed the color of the cover on that arm. I sew, so I just made an arm cover, but it was disappointing.

great
This sofa arrived very quickly. It fully met my expectations. One cushion had a small dirt stain on it probably from the hands of the delivery team. This was noted on the delivery form. Two days after delivery the Crate and Barrel customer service people called me and offered to send me a new sofa. That was not necessary but certainly and example of excellent customer service. You don't see that kind of customer service much any more. Slip covers were good quality fabric and fit very well.

Disappointing
I ordered this sofa in 3/2011, it took twice as long to arrive as promised, but I hoped it would be worth the wait. When it finally arrived, it was clear that the slipcover really doesn't fit--sloppy looking even by 'slipcover' standards. The cushions have not mainteained their shape, appears very low quality. This sofa was a replacement for a super-cheap sofa I bought to get me through med school and residency. This one is only 6months old, and already looks worse than the cheap one I replaced. Not sure if this is a fluke, or Crate and Barrel's quality has taken a turn for the worse, but I'm disappointed. Huge waste of money, even on sale.

Great sofa
Love this sofa.Very comfortable and not huge.Didn't want a sofa that made me feel like I was in an office.Covers very easy to wash.So happy with it.

Very Comfortable
This is a great couch for those wanting firm, but comfortable support. It's not one of those slouchy couches that you sink into. I think it looks good and feels great and am happy to have purchased it.

Disappointed
While sitting on this couch for 3 hours after it was delivered to my home, all I could think of was how uncomfortabe it was. The fluffy cushions become flat and there is no support. I ended up sliding down into a slouch. Although I loved the look, the style and my choice of fabric, function over form prevailed....I returned this couch.

We are sending this item back. It may be good for some but it is not comfortable as a den item.

Happy with it
We purchased the swivel glider and ottoman. Nice looking and very comfortable. Works well. Plan to use with new baby for nursing and it should be a great fit.

Beach Perfect
I stressed and worried and measured about purchasing a sofa for our tiny little beach house. I visited the store and sat on this and several other sofas to try them out. I wanted a sofa that 1. Had slip covers since it would be at the beach. 2. would fit in the tiny little living area we had and most importantly 3. IT had to be comfortable. It has been about 2 years and this sofa has been so perfect. Now our family has grown, two grandkids, so I have removed some book shelves and I am purchasing another sofa exactly like the first, so we dont fight over who gets to sit on it!

Perfect size
I wanted a comfy sofa, but not too squishy, that wouldn't overwhelm my living room. I "visited" this sofa and others many times and am very happy with my purchase.
After much debate I bought the white cover so that I wouldn't worry about getting tired of a design. The ability to replace the slipcover was a selling point.
Since in my experience it is very seldom that 3 people sit on a sofa at one time no matter how big it is (not very conducive to conversation!) this is a perfect size.

Still comfortable!
It has been 7 years snce we purchased
our Bayside sofa and though it has
been relegated from the living room into the family room we still love it and find it to be a good comfy sofa. Right now you can find my husband stretched out on it as this is his nightly ritual.
And yes you can change the look with new slipcovers but be aware the fit is not the same-it will hang more loosely (and the price of the replacement covers is quite
substantial even on sale).

Comfy and not too deep
We like this couch because you can sit all the way back without having your feet off the floor. It is SO comfortable. It's true that the cushions are on the squishy side, but who wants to sit on a stiff couch? We are very happy with it!

Great sofa
I love the look of this classic sofa. It is very firm and upright, not a sofa to sink into. The stock cover is a durable fabric in a great color. It has a nicely tailored look for a slipcovered piece. All in all, a wonderful addition to our home.

Comfy & Versatile
I've had this sofa for about 2.5 years now and I'm really happy with it. It's the main sofa in my condo living room, so I sit / lay on for reading and TV watching and it seats three comfortably at a party. Might be a tad short for a really tall person (say, over 5'7") to lie down on. I love the color, b/c it lends a freshness to my living room and the slipcovers are easy to take off for washing. My only small gripe: the two accent pillows that come with it are a little stiff, so I swap out more comfy ones when I'm lounging horizontally or settling in for a nap. And I love that you can buy alternate slip covers.

Our favorite sofa by far
We have the Bayside with the down cushions and not only is it the most comfortable sofa that we have ever purchased but holds up AMAZINGLY well with our 6 and 4 year old boys and 1 dog. You name it it's been spilled on, written on, or thrown on this sofa. The slipcover is so well made and looks perfect even after tons of washes. There is not a stain on this sofa despite all that's been on it. We will cherish it for years to come and can't wait to by our next Crate and Barrel Sofa. This sofa is worth every single penny!
