what a timesaver
we love our new mandolin! it's great for making fries (we usually do sweet potato) and saves so much time alleviating the hassle of trying to cut thin uniform slices. i use it the most for making zucchini ribbons (fine juliene) which i serve in place of pasta. there is no way i could ever achieve that with a knife...well maybe i could but who has that kind of time and patience?! but beware...those blades are so sharp you can really get hurt if you don't focus while using and seriously take your time when cleaning

Excellent time-saver!
I have been looking for a good mandolin and finally decided to take the plunge on this OXO model. The blades are very sharp and do a great job on fruits and vegetables. Cleaning is easy - the main body is dishwasher safe, just be sure to take out the blades and hand wash them (carefully!).
The food holder included is actually helpful, unlike many others. As you slice your food and your apple, potato, etc. gets smaller, the holder continues to press the smaller wedge down until you are left with only a sliver.
I'm now able to make my homemade apple chips quickly and easily!

disappointing
When our mandoline broke, we purchased this oxo one. We love oxo products and figured it would be good. We were wrong. It is an awkward design and blades do not work well. It is not worth it!

Mandoline
My husband wanted this for our kitchen at first just to make his cucumber salad in the summer. Not only has it made making that quicker and made the cucumbers more uniform, but we have used it to cut fruit for sangria, pies, and just to enjoy. You do have to be careful with the blade and always use the food holder. But we love it and it makes cutting things all the same size very easy and quick.

Good for most things - so-so for others
There's nothing better than a mandoline for slicing potatoes for scalloped potatoes or chips, or for making zucchini slices so thin you can read a book through them. But don't go thinking you'll use this for your next batch of onion rings - you'll just end up in tears (both from the onion and from frustration). I also rarely use the hand guard because it punches holes in my vegetables.

Perfect Size
I received this as a shower gift and I am thrilled with it. Make sure to use the food holder because it is incredibly sharp! I made crinkle fries and it was so easy! Cleans very easily- Highly recommend.
