Great, Durable, Product
Finding a good bookcase at a good price point is difficult. This bookcase is stackable. I have moved three times with these bookcases, and they have not shown wear and tear. The material, rubberwood, helps with the durability aspect. I like that they are "open back" bookcases, as it helps open up the space against the wall visually. They are the perfect mixture of affordability, durability, and aesthetic design.

Great purchase
This is a great product for the price. I stacked two on top of each other and they look great. It easily matches any decor and moves easily if you change your mind. I recommend this to anyone.

Love it!
I LOVE this bookcase. I have three of them- two in walnut, and one in a color that is no longer available (a lighter wood color). They are super easy to put together and look great- I have two stacked that are sturdy, though I still made sure to put my heavy books on the bottom and lighter pictures and my iPod dock on the top. I definitely recommend this!

Great if you're a little handy
We got 2 of these, then ordered 2 more so obviously we like it. Great value for the price, but they all needed a little handy-work to make them worth it.
Of particular concern, in both deliveries, 1 of 2 are crooked. If you're stacking them, they are easily straightened by adding a screw, but does require that extra bit of work. Complicates the ability to fold them in the future, if needed.
On all of them, the bottoms are not well sanded so they can catch on your carpet, depending on your carpet style.

Perfect bookshelf
This bookshelf is gorgeous they need to sell it in stores. Normally I'm hesitate about online purchases but my faith in Crate and Barrel quality paid off. It may say folding but don't take that to mean flimsy or cheap.. It's actually Crate and Barrel's way of saying - ASSEMBLED. The bookshelf has hinges that snap each shelf into place. My favorite part was the wood screw covers. For the price I wasn't expecting that level of showmanship. Also, if you're looking to stack these the carving and holes are already made for you in the back for a seamless look. Not to worry I didn't stack and you wouldn't know the carving was there unless I pulled it away from the wall and showed you.

Simple & Sweet Bookcase
Simple look, simple price, simple solution. Needed extra space for books in office. Stacked two of these on each end of a huge very attractive built-in bookcases & desk unit and didn't want additional shelves to detract from the overall look. These fit right in, look nice, and seem sturdy enough. I had only minimal trouble putting them together. You may need to do a little "jiggling" to get the pegs to fit in the fold down shelves. I had no trouble at all attaching the brackets when stacking two units together to get the heighth I needed.

Good for the price, but I miss the old ones
Bought six of these. I was expecting them to be as wide as a version of these bookshelves that was available through the mid-2000s, but at 20 inches, these are fairly narrow, so be aware of that.
Fit and finish aren't great. The bars on the side that act as bookends for each shelf are square edges rather than rounded. The screw holes for the brackets that let you stack the bookcases don't always line up precisely either. But for the price, these work well as portable, temporary book shelves that look good everywhere.
They're just not as good as the old models, even though they're from the same manufacturer.

Nothing like real wood
This bookcase is a wonderful value- not only real wood but sustainable as well. It's sturdy and well-crafted and a fraction of the cost of other solid wood units. Great value.

Great Shelves
Solid, open, good quality for a great price.
These are not the same color as the previous walnut folding bookcases, although they are exactly the same in size, style, construction. (The item number has changed too, so this is not a complaint, just a note) We have a set of the old finish walnut shelves which are a darker brown (more like mahogany) and this set is on the other side of the fireplace now. You can see the difference if you look, but otherwise its fine. We were fine with nonmatching woods tho.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
I have been looking for a shelf to fit in a small nook next to my fireplace.
I bought 2 of these shelves in walnut to put side by side & they fit perfectly, hold a lot of books and look like they were custom made for that spot.
It took less than five minutes to put them up. Just open the box, unfold the sides & voile really nice bookselves. I would highly recommend them.

Sturdy Collapsing Bookcase
I was nervous that this would be a wobbly, weak bookcase because it was collapsable, but I was happily surprised when I saw it was a solid piece of furniture. We fit this into a small corner of our living room to hold our DVDs. When we move, it will be easy to collapse and move to our new place.

very good
Got 3 of these in cherry last winter; they are great in stule and value. On ly thing is shelves are far apart, so would be more use of space with full-size books like notebooks, journals, etc.
With 'regular' books -- 7-9 inches, you have some wasted space. Fold nicely, seem like good wood,
and not just for the dorm!
