The Story

Pure and simple. Clean Asian shapes have a thin, elegant feel and sophisticated color palette of subtle celadon and matte black. Porcelain is fired at a very high temperature, with the cooling process creating the beautiful crackling of the glossy glaze. This traditional artistic effect is food safe, though it may discolor when exposed to foods that can potentially stain until it is cleaned in an automatic dishwasher.

Kita 20-Piece Dinnerware Set is rated 3.25 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6+ Years with no issues - Love these dishes I received these over 6 years ago after registering for them at our wedding.  Other than two bowls which have broken (one developed a crack over time, one I dropped) I have no cracks, chips or staining. These are our every day dishes as well as our formal dinning set so they see a lot of use. We use the salad plates and bowls more than anything (the dinner plates are so large that don't use them on a daily basis) and all the pieces look as they did new. We use them in the microwave and dishwasher with no issues.  They are porcelain, so more fragile than other other materials, but they have held up well for us (2 adults, no children).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classic but not boring We purchased our current set after our wedding with the 10% discount to complete our registry. We are very pleased with this line although I picked and chose pieces as I was not interested in the look of heavy black exterior of the sugar bowl and chargers. It has a classic unfussy look but with a crackle finish that upon closer inspection makes it much more interesting than just restaurant white ware.We did experience cracking with a couple pieces but C & B quickly exchanged them. We've had dark sauces in them and haven't experienced any staining.I would easily chose this set again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big Disappointment My husband and I registered for the Kita dinnerware for our wedding registry, and we expected these dishes to last us at least the first ten years of our marriage. Within a few months of using the product, all of the bowls started cracking, several of the dinner plates started cracking, and the cracks eventually led to the dishes completely breaking. We no longer have 12 sets of dishes, because so many of them have broken. And we refuse to replace them because we don't want our money to go to waste. I'm just upset that the people who bought these dishes for us as gifts wasted their money. I expected more from Crate and Barrel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Classic yet contemporary look for this Asian inspired dinnerware. Really like, but one thing to be careful of! You must wash soon after eating dark sauces because if the sauces sit on plate they soak in & lightly stain the porcelain.
