Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I saw these displayed in the store and found them to be quite adorable. I purchased two of the larger sized globes. I charged the lights for 8 hours in direct sunlight as directed in the instructions; however, I could not get the units to illuminate. I followed the instructions exactly. I tried several more times to charge the globes but was unable to get them to light up in the dark. After careful inspection, my husband discovered the globes could be twisted open and located an on switch. (No where in the instructions did it say to twist the globe apart and turn the switch on.) The globe did work after sliding the switch to the on position. We were unable to twist the second globe open, my husband included and the first globe was very difficult to open. Unfortunately, I will be returning them to the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No instructions! Bought two--one worked, one didn't. Found out you have to twist the globe open and turn it on. No where does it explain this on the attached tags. Love the item, but instructions would have helped!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not turn on. First globe light didn't work because I couldn't get the two halves to turn. Brought it back to Crate & Barrel and they gave me a new one. The two halves do turn counterclockwise but does not work even after sitting in the sun all day. What is this mysterious "on-off switch"? How do you access it? Help! More specific information would make this product a lot less frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Solar LIghting Ever! I purchased 2 large and 3 small lights over a year ago. I used fishing line to hang them from my deck beam. After using them last summer and this summer (I took them down for the winter), they all still light up giving a nice soft glow creating a great ambiance on the deck. It would be great is Crate and Barrel had more specific instruction on use. I did not take the batteries out when not in use, as mentioned by another reviewer, but that is a good idea.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality Bought 4 of these lights a month ago and the quality is really bad. Some nights only a couple of the lights come on and other nights none of them come on. Sometimes when you touch them they'll come back on randomly. Definitely not worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LuvEm, and folks, lets use our brains Bought 3 total (2 small and 1 large), and am going back for more.Use your brains - like every solar led I have ever seen, there is a switch - turn it on. It's not rocket science to find folks - you will eventually have to replace the battery too (they wear out after multiple season's of on/off). Guess how to get that???If you are going to pull them in for the winter (if you have cold winter's, like us in Chi-beria - I would recommend pulling in for the winter, open the halves, and remove the battery (we all know that you shouldn't leave batteries stored and not being used) inside their electronics, right??), and store the batteries separately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price These work as advertised. What would make them more fun, is if they changed colors. I actually thought they were a little too bright for where I wanted them. So, I opened them up and applied some tempura paint inside the tube running down the middle. Green in one and blue in the other (I'd ordered two). Now one gives a nice soft green glow and the other a blue glow. They stay on a long time into the night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them I got about a dozen of them last year. They are simple to operate (it doesn't take a science degree to turn them on! Once!). Had them outside for a whole year and no problem! The only issue that I have with them is that I have to dust them after the winter! Shocker...! About to buy another dozen as they do look great in my trees!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lights! I bought the small and large - neither disappoint. I hang them from my retractable SunSetter awning and from the bimini top of our boat. Used them all last summer with zero issues. Plan to purchase a few more for this summer...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Idea I bought this globe thinking it would looks good on my balcony outside, but it seems like when it charges during the day, the light doesn't glow that bright inside the bulb. I had to shake it a few times for it to turn on properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NO instructions for use included. It was only by reading other 'reviews' that I was able to find any clue as to how to turn the light on. Crate and Barrel could address this problem by attaching instructions since this deficient has been pointed out in previous reviews. Instructions are not even available on the store's website.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Resolve I am not purchasing any more solar products. Yes, I know how to replace the batteries, turn the light "on", provide ample sunlight -- no matter, after 4-6 weeks they simply cannot and will not work. Not. Too bad, as the option of lighting without wiring is certainly a plus.My remaining light is a cheap-o from a discount store, going strong.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 out of 3 no longer work. I am so disappointed in these lights. Love the look for sure, but that's where it stops. First, my large globe refuses to open for the most part, making turning it on and off a bit of a challenge. Second, after about 2 months of owning them (and using minimally, I actually bought them for camping) - none of them seem to work anymore. I've left them out in full sun for days on end, and when I turn them on at night, even after a few days of 'charging', they only stay on for 15 minutes, if that. I would love them, if they worked. Too late to return them, as I didn't keep tags or receipts since they worked consistently when I first purchased them. - I'm so bummed!
