The Story

Created exclusively for Crate and Barrel, these gorgeous textiles are handcrafted by skilled Indian craftsmen using time-honored techniques. Each design is created with a traditional mud-resist method of block printing known as "dabu." Fabric is then dyed in large vats of dye derived from the indigo plant. Some of these solutions may be up to 200 years old, as new plant material is continually added so that the tubs are never depleted. Variations to the distinctive blue color are characteristic of the handcrafted process and make each napkin truly one of a kind.
