The Story

Celebrated pastry chef and cookbook author Jenny McCoy has created a series of gourmet baking mixes exclusively for Crate and Barrel, allowing you to create the real McCoy at home. Derived from her book "Desserts for Every Season," this gourmet cobbler mix revisits this old-fashioned American dessert with the perfect mix of toasted oats, buttery streusel and a hint of cinnamon enhancing your choice of seasonal fruit. Named New York's Rising Star Pastry Chef by Star Chefs in 2012, McCoy has created dessert menus for such noted restaurants as Tom Colicchio's Craft and Emeril LaGasse's New Orleans.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Who needs a mix?? This is the simplest dish to make from scratch, and one hardly needs a mix for it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favorite Crisp Mix One day, I was perusing the Crate & Barrel website and always look to see what is new and exciting in the Gourmet section (I love food!) and came across Jenny McCoy's Seasonal Fruit Oatmeal. Now, I love a good apple crisp but have the hardest time figuring out what apple crisp recipe works best. I set my mind to make one the following weekend, I was off. I went ahead and ordered it as it was affordably priced. Coincidentally, a customer on my route had gone apple picking in Michigan over the weekend and had brought some back for me as a treat. Once I told them what I planned to do, they loaded me up with even more apples. How fortunate was I that I now didn't have to visit the market. Thankfully, all the work was practically done for me with this mix. All you needed to do was peel and core the apples, and melt some butter. Fast forward to the finish product. It made the most awesome apple crisp and made the kitchen smell so darn good! I'm so pleased with the final product that I'm ordering more for myself and more to give to my family and friends. Just thinking about how good it was is making my mouth water. Gotta go!
