Rated 2 out of 5 by from Short term investment I have had this piece for about 4 years. I paid full price for it with a gift card. I have relied on this pan regularly since the time I bought it. I have always hand washed this piece. The top started to rust awhile back and the outside of the pot had chipped. It stained as well. I attributed this to normal wear and tear. After all, I used this pot to cook many dishes that had a red wine reduction. It didn't bother me until the enamel on the interior bubbled and chipped. I don't think I can use this pan any longer. It was great while it lasted! If you only expect a few years out of your cook wear, then this pot is great. If you want it to last for the long haul, I suggest paying more and investing in another brand

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dutch Oven I received this as a Christmas gift last year and was so surprised on how beautiful it was and a great quality. I use it for stews, soups, and baking. It works well from stove top to oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! I have this Dutch oven in yellow and use it constantly. First of all, this is such an incredible price for an item like this. Similar ovens easy cost 2-3 times as much. It disperses heat really well across the entire pan, cleans easily, and cooks so nicely. I love to use it for soups, stews, rices, lentils, everything. The only downside is that it's incredibly heavy so don't plan to shlep it to your next potluck.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't last long This was one of the wedding presents that I was most excited about receiving; we have had it under a year and half. I didn't have a nonreactive pot that was large enough to make sauces for canning so I thought this would be perfect. At first it was great, but about 3 months in the top and lid began to rust. And more recently the bottom has stained. I am disappoint about this, I wish we would have registered for another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pot - make sure you check it first though. I have my own and love it so much that I bought one for my sister as a house warming gift. Unfortunately, she received a chipped pot - which ofcourse makes the pot unusable. She has to go return at crate and barrel. I am disappointed that Crate and Barrel sent her a damaged good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pot! I have two of these dutch ovens, the 6 quart round and the 6 quart oval. I use them both all the time, mostly for braising recipes. I know I can rely on the thickness of the pan to ensure the food does not burn, even though it often cooks in the oven or stove top for hours.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't bother I received this dutch oven as a gift and I'm really disappointed. The lid does not create a proper seal, so when I simmered a favorite recipe of mine for an hour, all of the liquid evaporated and my food burned. I'm throwing the pot away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase This is a great product and I use the dutch oven on a regular basis. I would say this product is equal in quality to others that are higher in price. I am looking forward to purchasing more items from the Mario Batali line here at Crate and Barrel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mulit-use & fabulous! This dutch oven allows me to create the most amazing dishes from boullabaise to green chili! I've left my slow cooker behind... I have no concerns about burning food or ruining my dutch oven - the enameled cast iron is a piece I can count on!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasted only 1 year I bought this for my husband last Christmas. We use it regularly and only hand wash, but this week the enamel in the bottom totally bubbled, shattered and made the pot unusable. Luckily we had not put all of the ingredients for our dinner in the pot before this happened. I am really disappointed that the pot only lasted one year. Knowing this, should I have purchased a more expensive Le Creuset?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for... This is a functional dutch oven, but after 4 years, the enamel has started to chip, both on the exterior and interior even though we have always hand washed it. It's priced much lower than other brands of enameled cast iron but is clearly not made for long-term durability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must Have for Your Kitchen My husband and I cook a lot in the Fall and Winter. This dutch oven completely changed the way we cook! It is so much easier to sautee and lets the flavors really develop in the meats that we are cooking. We used it recently for a small roasting chicken. Typically, the chicken and toppings would burn but using the dutch oven we didn't have one burnt item!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My main soup pot I do a lot of cooking in this pot in the fall and winter - I am always happy to get it out. It's a great kitchen must have and makes cooking easier. Heats evenly, great for soups and chili's. And when I'm having a dinner party I can put it right on the table with a ladle - its a great look and keeps warm for a long time. Only hard part is washing because of its weight ( food comes right off but I usually have my husband do it because it is a bit heavy)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from functional and pretty Quite a conversation piece as well as top quality and fully functional. It cooks ideally every time and it just wouldn't be as fun to cook without this special piece of cookware! Bon Appetite!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love! We received this dutch oven as a wedding gift and I absolutely love it!! It's high quality as you can tell just from the weight and look of it and is more reasonably priced than the Le Creuset brand. You should really read the instructions for use and care - it recommends using a slightly lower heating temperature for cooking because the cast iron has a high heat conduction and things will burn easily if you're not careful.Luckily the enamel coating is easy to clean. If there are stains or residue after you cook, put about an inch of water in the bottom and mix in a few tablespoons of baking soda and let it boil for a few minutes. Let it cool slightly and scrub normally with a sponge and dish soap. NEVER use bleach or steel wool to clean it- you will ruin it!!!All in all a GREAT product- for yourself or for a gift!
