Kitchenaid Stand Mixer
I purchased my KitchenAid stand mixer second hand from a relative. (couldn't pass up the price) I don't know how I lived without one all these years, I recently purchased the new flex edge beater for this mixer and love it. The only complaint I ever had was the fact that you had to scrape down the sides of the bowl. This little product takes care of that nicely. It is a little pricey, but worth it if you use the mixer often. Love KitchenAid.

Exceeds Expectations
This mixer exceeds expectations! The splash guard is just wonderful and eliminates all the splatter that happens on the cupboards when mixing things. The mixer makes everything easier- I still use my hand mixer for little things but I tend to use the stand mixer more since it keeps the mess isolated and the bowl is wonderful and light when pouring what you have inside!

This model was a good choice
I knew I wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer, but had no idea how many different models were out there. I just kind of randomly picked this one because we were registering at C&B. In general I am happy with this Artisan model, but have noticed a few things that are different from other Kitchen Aid models.
Good to know...
1. Unlike the other Kitchen Aid mixer series, the Artisan version has a tilting head that pivots to allow access to the bowl and the bowl twists into place at the base. Other series have a lever that lowers and raises the bowl because the mixer head cannot be tilted up. I've used both types and prefer the tilting head.
2. The Artisan is a medium-capacity model. Bigger and smaller ones are available.
3. I'm not sure how powerful this motor is compared to other models, but you may want to check on that if you plan to mix heavy doughs or use it frequently.
4. Even though the color is called "Chrome", it is actually a painted silver color. (Looks good and is much easier to care for than stainless or other metals.)
5. Extra bowls are available for Artisan models. You'll probably want extras if you do a lot of baking or make complex recipes, as rewashing the bowl in the middle of cooking gets old real quick. Because of the handle, extra bowls are not stackable... wouldn't that be nice!

"Mixed" Review--Great for some things, Not perfect
PROS:
Generally, I really like my KitchenAid mixer. I took a cake decorating class last year and it was invaluable for mixing large amounts of heavy powdered-sugar frosting. (This would have been VERY messy had I had to do it by hand--with the stand mixer, just drape a cloth over the mixer and let it do its job!). I also love it for things like homemade marshmallows (which require ~10 min of beating).
CONS:
*It is very heavy and our house doesn't have a ton of counter space, so lugging it out is kind of a hassle.
*Also, it should not replace your hand-held mixer, which is more convenient and easier to clean up after.
*You're not supposed to wash the bowl and attachments in the dishwasher.
*It's awkward to scrape the sides of the bowl because of how deep it is and the mixing attachment placement, and it is not uncommon that unmixed food gets stuck near the bottom and doesn't get incorporated into the mix.
*Finally, it warns against using it to make "heavy dough" because the motor might burn out. That warning has made me nervous to use it for bread, because I'm not sure how "heavy" is too heavy for this $300 investment.

Great Mixer
I received this as a wedding/housewarming present, and I absolutely love it. Great for the "Martha" within you - highly recommend. Works like a dream, easy to clean, and pretty on my countertop.

I'm a chef now!
I was looking forward to having this mixer but I never dreamed what a difference it was going to make in my life. It is so convenient and easy to use. I am cooking from recipes more and trying new things instead of throwing together the same old 5 ingredient meals. I've always wanted to cook more complicated recipes but was easily overwhelmed by all the ingredients and bowls but somehow this mixer has made all the difference. It is so easy to rinse out if i need to use it for two different things while cooking and it looks so nice on my counter.

It's a classic!
It's hard to go wrong with such a classic. We received our stand mixer as a wedding gift and have been trying to come up with excuses to use it ever since. It's easy to use, the attachments are simple to swap out, and it doesn't take up too much room on the counter. The chrome color (as opposed to other colors available elsewhere) is a great choice because it really goes with everything. We couldn't be happier!

Simply the best!
I got my mixer for Christmas a year and a half ago and I absolutely love it! I also got the pasta attachment which makes making homemade pasta sooo easy and there is nothing better than homemade pasta. These mixers are so reliable, my mom used hers for 17 years and only stopped because we bought her a bigger one, which they didn't have when she got her original mixer. Bottom line, these are the best!

A fantastic gift
I received one of these for a bridal shower -- It's definitely one of my favorite wedding gifts! It makes mixing up anything for baking ten times faster. My mother-in-law has had a KitchenAid mixer for many, many years, and I hear they never break or wear out!

Love my artisan stand mixer
The artisan stand mixer is easy to use and to clean! Whether I am making cookies, cake, or bread dough this mixer works great. I highly recommend buying an extra mixing bowl! It makes life easier when you are making multiple types of cookies, cakes, etc.

Amazing mixer
Kitchen-aid has made a fantastic product with this mixer. I have never had such an easy time making cookies as I do with this mixer. I am usually not a big cooker, but since I got this mixer our belly's have sure been happier in my house! We've made bread, pizza dough, and lots of different cookies! I would definitely recommend this product and Crate and Barrel offers it at a very good price!

Perfect!
This is the perfect mixer, it does everything. My mom has had a kitchenaid for 30 years and I recently purchased one, It's sturdy, has tons of power, beats the fluffiest egg whites and cream plus is great for bread doughs cookie batters, etc... Cleanup is the easiest of all mixers i have used. This is the last mixer you will buy.

Awesome Mixer
Got this gift off my wedding registry and it is the greatest mixer. My mother has had a kitchenaid mixer for years and it is a true workhorse and not difficult to use at all. A must for all bakers and cooks (and learners)

Nothing Better
If you are looking to buy a mixer, do not get anything else besides this! It would be a waste of your money. This thing is long lasting, durable, looks nice in the kitchen, takes all the hard work out of mixing, has several different speed settings, it is powerful. The attachments are huge! The only complaint I have is that the mixing bowl gets fingerprints and a little "dirty" looking pretty easily. I just wipe it down though and good as new!
