Great Knife, Essential for any Kitchen
I use this knife every night to make dinner. I absolutely love it. I can effortlessly chop everything without tiring or making my hand hurt. What amazes me is being able to cut the skins off of butternut squashes and pumpkins without much effort at all. After using this knife daily for almost a year now, it is still sharp and works great!
Tip: I recommend washing this knife by hand to keep it at its best.

Ahhhh!
There is nothing like a good quality knife. As vegetarians and foodies, we out a lot of miles on a knife. This one is a multi-purpose everything kinda knife and we love it!

Great knife
I was in the market for a new knife and saw my girlfriend using a Santoku knife. Looked them up and found that Crate and Barrel carried the best~ the Wustouf knives. Their 7" is a great size for chopping and it feels good in your hand. Would recommend it as a great knife to have in the kitchen!

Poor quality
The Wusthof Gourmet line is of significantly poorer quality than the Classic. I purchased the 3.5" Classic pairing knife and the Gourmet Santoku at the same time, and, boy, what a difference. The pairing knife has a good weight and performs beautifully. The Santoku knife, although sharp, feels flimsy and the handle looks cheap. I thought perhaps this was the way Santoku knives were made, but after recently purchasing the Gourmet Carving Set which was of similarly poor quality, I believe the entire Gourmet line just doesn't stand up against its Classic counterpart. I will be returning the carving set but am, unfortunately, stuck with the Santoku knife since C&B doesn't do exchanges after 30 days.

Fair
The blade is sharp and it cuts well, but compared to other Wusthof knives I own it is not as sturdy. I also find the handle to be light and small.

Not as sturdy as I thought.
I bought the 7' santuko(sp) and it was much lighter than I expected. I'm glad it was only $50.00 because it's not worth the $100 suggested retail price. It's a nice sharp knife, but a little too short and the handle isn't curved enough for the rocking motion of chopping.

8" and santoku
i use both of these knives almost daily. both wash very well, are non-reactive, and are easy to clean.

My Go-To Chef Knife!
I splurged on a santoku knife a couple of years ago during the annual Crate and Barrel Wusthof sale. I am so glad I did - this is truly my go-to knife for prepping and chopping vegetables. I have small hands and this knife is very comfortable to use. I have no complaints whatsoever! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Feeling Like a Real Chef!
I cannot believe how easily I am able to slice and dice veggies with my new Santoku 7". Not only is it shockingly light-weight, it is also extremely effective and easy to work with. All this time I had no idea what I was missing as I tried to saw through onions, winter squash and herbs. As effortless as this has become, I feel like a chef on a cooking show now! What fun :)
