Overall very nice but small design flaw
I really like this piece. I like the look, the color, the size. It looks exactly like it does in the pictures on the website. I particularly liked the price. It was also relatively easy to assemble, and I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to stuff like that. The only complaint I have is that the media center lies flush against the wall, so any cords from your TV to the components in the media center cabinet will pull the media center out from the wall. This wouldn't be a big deal if the media center were a stand-alone item, but it prevents the media center from lining up perfectly with the bookcases. Doesn't ruin the piece by any means, but it seems like C&B would have realized and corrected this design flaw.

A magic book shelf!
This was perfect for my husband and I when we first got married. We lived in a tiny one bedroom condo and had to use every space to make some semblance of a home. We paired this with the Sloane leaning desk and voila! we have ourselved a home office. I love the graduted shelving the bottom shelf was a perfect size for holding our printer. I also appreciated the wall anchors that come with it. Even better now that we have a baby!

Sturdy and beautiful storage
We received two of these bookcases as a wedding gift a year ago. I would be happy to replace all my other bookcases with more of these! In particular, I love the little tray edge around the back and sides of the shelves - keeps items corralled.

Perfect
The bookcase arrived with two left shelves. Ugh. But, customer service was very helpful and sent me the replacement part in two days. The bookcase is in a office setting and has received several compliments. It is sturdy and elegent looking. I would recommend this product.

Loved them!
This was my first purchase online from Crate and Barrel and I'll be honest, I was a little nervous. The nearest store to me in over two hours away so I did not have the chance to see these bookshelves in person. After looking forever for something similar I took the plunge and ordered two of these shelves. They arrived very very well packed and in perfect condition. Took about an hour per shelf for me to put together. These shelves look great next to each other and I will be ordering another 4 of them over the coming months.
The quality is also amazing so they are a great deal for the price!

Good on carpet only
The bookcase may look nice, but it doesnt come with a good anchor to the wall. My floor is wood and the bookcase kept sliding to the floor and scratching the wood. Good for carpet only.

Totally Impressed
My wife and I are totally impressed with our new leaning bookcase and desk. The two units fit together very easily and were incredibly easy to put together. The packaging that they came in kept everything very secure and protected (even in a damaged box). The wood is beautiful and they look nicer than in the pictures!

Book-shelfs 4 book lover
this is a real nice book-shelf and the perfect Valentines gift .. my Girl friend had almost as much pleasure to assemble them then i have filling them up ...:)
oh yeah , they are well made, look really neat and the variable rack width offer a nice opportunity to spread out a variety of book type
(one catch, don't think of them as library style book shelfs, they are more decorative)

Good Product, Weak Instructions
Strong and sturdy product. Holds many books, even heavy ones without buckling. The instructional diagram could be clearer, I initially put the shelves in backward so they were protruding out. Minor inconvenience, but it's hard to tell during the assembling process.

Love it!
I just bought the leaning bookcases with wine bar and they are fantastic! Super easy to put together and very sturdy. The finish is beautiful and the design is clean and sleek.
I am still waiting for my wine bar to arrive and I am already thinking I need another bookcase.
Best money spent for the quality. I would highly recommend this product.

Gorgeous Bookcase and Wine Bar!
I got two bookshelves and the wine bar piece and could not be happier with the way they look. Shipping was fast and they were very easy to assemble. I actually just recently ordered two more of the regular bookcases to put on either side of my entertainment center because I love the look. They give you a lot of shelf space without taking up so much visual space as most large bookcases do. The fact that they're open really gives them a clean look. I even cut a piece of mirror to go behind one or two shelves to add a little something and the result is gorgeous. I highly recommend these pieces - you won't be sorry.

wrong parts
I really liked these shelves. I had my eye on them for a while and finally moved into an apartment where they became a necessity.
So, how hard can it be to put together 9 peices? After reading the reviews, it seemed pretty easy. I'm not Bob Villa by any means but I do have a good sense of following directions. These shelves were not fitting at all, the shelves were tilted backwords so that had I put something on them, everything would have slid back towards the wall. Crazy right? So I re-did it over and over again. I went through every permiatiation of the 9 peices and the only way they'd fit were not right. So in the end I called the help desk and they told me that it sounded like I had wrong peices! Then I had to haul them back to C&B to get a new set. Round 2 was much easier and i now like my shelves!

Classy piece of furniture!
I bought this piece for my den. I placed art among other show case pieces on it and it displays well. The wood is very dark and rich. Perfect quality for the price. I absolutely love it!

Gorgeous
These bookcases are beautiful. We purchased two for our small apartment, and they look great in our dining room. I think this piece can blend with a variety of styles and plan to use ours for years to come. Easy to assemble and great value for the price.

STYLISH, STURDY & FUNCTIONAL- LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!
This item is not done justice when displayed in store- with so much else around you can't see its beauty. In store it looks black and on the cheaper side- it also looks very delicate and i felt unsure as to how many books and things it would really hold.
But when i brought it home and assembled it (which by the way was very easy) it looked really nice. As mentioned by others the wood finish is beautiful- it looks like a unique, modern expensive piece of furniture- it adds character to the room, and to top it off it actually holds alot of stuff.
It's definitely one of the 'best-buys' i've made ever- IF YOU WANT A BOOKCASE THIS IS A STEAL- BEAUTIFUL & INEXPENSIVE!

Excellent quality
I bought this unit and one desk unit. Both items had excellent packaging. My husband is 80 yrs. old and had no problem with the assembly. Units are solid wood with a beautiful dark finish. Paired together on one wall - beautiful statement.

Great Price Great Bookcase
I love this Bookcase. It is so sleek and contemporary and the shelves can hold alot of books, frames, nick nacks etc. The bookcase is extremely sturdy and the finish of the wood is beautiful. Best of all its easy to assemble. Took me 20 minutes. Buy one! or Two..
