The Story

With all the warmth and rustic charm of a one-of-a-kind antique, the rich waxed patina of this red storage cabinet adds instant character to any room. Crafted of shesham and mango wood with traditional tongue-and-groove joinery, the cabinet is topped with architectural crown moulding. Two glass-paned doors reveal two adjustable shelves to display everything from books, media equipment and curios to dishes and kitchen collectibles. Hinges and knobs are hand-forged iron; wood hasp closures secure the doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy & Unique I had been on the hunt for a unique and well crafted TV media console for 3 years. I stumbled upon this while visiting a C&B store. The color red is very deep and rustic and appears hand painted. The top is ever so slightly off level but it is that very slight imperfection (intentional or unintentional) that lead our guests to believe it was hand built. Solid wood construction. All my media devices (cable box, dvr & DVD) fit nicely. The back has the appropriate amount of holes to allow for cables to run through the back. There is not a single person that has visited our home that has NOT complimented this piece and asked who made it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cabinet! We love this piece. It is a good size to hold all of your electronics as well as some DVDs, CDs etc. It is different than normal entertainment centers and we've gotten many compliments about it. The only two notes are that you need to clean off the black glaze on the inside. It comes with 'extra' on it and you need to wipe it down inside with a damp paper towel or the black will come off on whatever you put in it. Also, there is only one hole out the back. We may add another so we can minimize the length of the cords. Otherwise, we love it and would get it again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed When I first laid my eyes on the Rojo pieces in the store, we made a decision to purchase. I needed some color in our living room and the Rojo collection definitely accomplished this. When it was first delivered i was so excited and it fit perfect. I did not use this piece as a media center, rather an accent piece of furniture for storage. Looks and function are perfect. The only negative I have is how easy it scratches. For the price, I was expecting much better durability. Overall it is a good piece of furniture, but quality does not merit the price. Because of this, we will not be purchasing the other Rojo piece and we are currently in the market for something similar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keyword: storage The cabinet is beautiful, sturdy and functional. My wife and I bought it to house all the gadgets that I have running to our 46" LCD: surround sound receiver, PS3, Cable box, Apple TV, Xbox 360. The cabinet isn't quite deep enough for the receiver, so if we close the door it puts pressure on the HDMI cables plugged into the back and on the front volume knob. Also, it should be noted that this is made of real wood. Wood is an insulator, so whenever we I have any of the equipment on, I have to leave the doors open, otherwise I fear I would run the risk of damaging the hardware. I learned this once while watching a blu-ray on the PS3 and the fan noise could be heard through the cabinet. I opened the door and it felt like opening an oven that was on.It looks amazing and it's solid! Just be careful because even your cable box is gonna get hot in this thing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Piece I have looked around for an interesting media piece that will hold components without looking like a big brown box. As soon as I saw the finish on this piece I knew it would be exactly right. It has an almost handmade look and is kind of primitive in hardware but has excellent proportions. The red is very rich without looking cheap like some bright colors do. I think it also bridges traditional and contemporary very well since I have both! I would definitely recommend this piece, it is very well made and looks great in the living room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cabinet, gorgeous color I purchased both the media & the tall cabinet. I like that the shelves of the media cabinet are adjustable & that there are holes for cables on both sides. I did have some issues with the little stubs that support the shelves. Several of the holes were not drilled through all the way, causing the shelf stubs to not fit correctly. I had to take a flathead screwdriver & scrape the holes deeper so the shelves would fit properly. Some people have mentioned that the colors of the media & tall cabinet don't match, but mine match perfectly. I LOVE the deep red & it just got better when, after cleaning the cabinets, I polished them with beeswax. It made the color even more rich looking. The whole set has made my living room feel more quaint, warm, & homey. We love the whole set!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Veneer cracked after only 2 1/2 years. I purchased this cabinet in May, 2009, and in December, 2011, I noticed a large, circular crack on the left side, about the size of an apple, that was clearly due to the veneer panelling (that lays on top of the actual wood) drying out. For $600, I did not expect the cabinet to crack after only 2 1/2 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the right touch This adds just the right touch !Elegant, warm, a character piece that is discrete enough to avoid deterring attention for a more original piece in the room.If you are like me, in other words a fan of contemporary, yet still needs warmer or original furniture as an offset, you will understand.Practical, with the choice to open hidden passages for wires, or leaving the back continuons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Piece I bought this unit as a TV stand for a 42"-flat screen. I was nervous about the stability, given that it's only 18" deep, but there was no reason to worry! The furniture delivery crew took it out of the box, and it was immediately clear that this is a heavy, stable piece of furniture. The wood is solid, and the finish is beautiful. It looks like a genuine antique. There is a slight crack along the top where the wood seams meet. If I were shopping in a store, I'd select another one instead (of the same cabinet), but I didn't want to deal with the hassel of returning it for what seems to be a minor defect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Finish comes right off! Do not buy this piece! I have purchased many things from Crate and Barrel that I have loved. However, there seems to be a major design flaw with this piece of furniture. The top red coating scratches off just by setting something on it or lightly brushing with the finger nail. The black finish will come all over the hand and arms like chimmney soot! I don't know what they color this thing with, but it does not dry. I wiped it out 3 times, but the coloring inside still comes onto the arm and hand. I could not use it to store anything or it would get the black oily powdery finish on it. Plus, there is a divider limiting space and the pegs that come with it don't all fit. It makes the shelf wobbly. I understand the piece is meant to be rustic, and the paint is uneven, but it should be functional. Some of the black pigment was even on the glass front. I don't think that was intentional. For looks alone I might give it a 3 or a 4. It definitely has that rustic look, if that is desired. It is non functional though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy... I just got this piece within the past few weeks. I have gotten several compliments on it. The storage space is adequate for the cable box and DVD player. I will say that it looks much more red than some of the photos on the website. The actual color looks like the photo where it is filled with wood. If the color is really important, have a look at the floor model in the store. The finish is kind of "distressed", which is exactly what I wanted!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small Size Big Statement The Rojo 46 Media Storage Cabinet is great for the small media or TV room. It has a beautiful muted red patina that adds a pop of color. Inside this little beauty, we conceal a DVR, Blue Ray, Wii gaming set, Apple TV, and Apple Mini. I would highly recommend the Rojo 46 both for beauty and function.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wood split in two months Only two months after receiving this, the top has split along the wood's glue line. Cheaper than cheap. A real disappointment. Also, TiVos don't fit in it - nor do some CD players and stereo amplifiers. Beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Piece We use this for our television and components in our guest room/office. It is a great pop of color and much better than other traditional "media cabinets" that end up looking like big black or brown blobs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Goes great with the tall cabinets We purchased this item about a year after purchasing two of the large rojo cabinets. Since our t.v will not fit on the media cabinet--and that would be too much rojo in one area--we planned to use it as a buffet/end table separating our family room from the breakfast area. It works great to hold all my cookbooks and is nice and long to use as an end table behind the couch. The one draw back is that is scratches easily; this helps with the antique look but we also have to be careful because we have two very active dogs and one likes to put her paws on it when she sits on the couch.
