Love it when it works
Got 2 had my initial purchase over 9 yrs ago it was lost at a recent event so had to buy another. The replacements were of lesser quality, 1 of the springs snapped; I had to force it back in place. I have been so busy I could not even contact CB for a replcement but I didnt expect I would need to. So I guess I will get it replaced at some pt or just keep forcing it back. Otherwise I like them would not have replaced it if I didnt...

Faulty mechanics
When these scoops work, they are very effecient but for the second time, the spring-action handle release scoop jumped the cog and misaligned the piece that pushes out the ice cream. Crate and Barrel did replace it immediately with no fuss so that was a positive.

Ice Cream Scoop, Really?
Ice cream scoop, I think not. Mash potato scoop, maybe. This ice cream scoop broke with the first scoop of ice cream. This is a piece of junk. Save your money. I would return it but I got it on vacation, and there is no Crate and Barrel in Hawaii.
I never write reviews but I wanted to warn potential buyers.

Broke almost instantly.
This scooper is so flimsy and poorly made - it broke almost instantly, and I was using it scoop soft cupcake batter, not even ice cream! I have the smaller version as well, and while it hasn't broken yet, it too is quite flimsy and the little moving part gets knocked out of place every time I use it. I wouldn't recommend this item - inferior quality.

This thing broke during the first use!!!
I couldn't believe it! Will diving in for my very first scoop of ice cream with my brand new Crate and Barrel "Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop", it broke! I am hopeful Crate & Barrel will exchange this item.

Not for Ice Cream
I love this scoop and use it regularly, but it won't work for ice cream. I use it to bake large, round, uniform cookies. It is also perfect for serving balls of rice, guacamole, polenta and potato salad. Having a round mound is a nice touch to the presentation of your food. Chilled peanut butter or chocolate chip cookie dough and ice cream are too difficult for this scoop to get through and the handle's base pops out of the wheel that rotates the release. It is very difficult to get back in place. This scoop is great for softer things, but not for ice cream!

Great Scoop!
I have used these scoops at home and in my restaurant. Love the durability. Always works, no popping out of line. I use them for potato & zucchini pancakes, cookie dough, mini brownie pies and more.
Never been disappointed!

yum
I have a friend that adores ice cream so i bought her this as a gift, and she loves it. It has a sleek design and scoops out hard ice cream well. It is also good for scooping cookie dough.

An easy to use time-saver!
This is the ultimate time saver in the kitchen: my kids scooped cookie dough in a jiffy, saving me to prepare dinner for our guests! Home-baked cookies are ready to go in the oven in a snap and they come out uniform in shape and size, therefore evenly baked. And of course, the mess was minimal, both around the mixing bowl and more importantly, on the cookie sheets.
