My husband and I received this double boiler recently for our wedding, and we've already been able to make use of it many times. For my baking, it's perfect for melting chocolate, and I love that the bottom pot can be used on its own as well. A great essential for today's cook!

Love this!
I got this double boiler as a wedding present. I am all about multi-purpose items, and this fits the bill. You can use the double boiler to melt chocolate, make sauces, or can be used as two separate pots. The glass lid ensures no splatter all over your walls, and when you are done cooking, this nests neatly and takes up little cabinet space. If you have limited kitchen cabinet space like we do, then you will appreciate this all the more. The whole item itself is very light weight, but still has a nice size capacity when in use. It really is a great go-to item for any kitchen.

I made toffee for a cookie exchange and used this double boiler - it was so easy, smooth and perfect for melting chocolate. It looks pretty, too! Very pleased with this double boiler.

Registry Purchase
We purchased this double boiler as a wedding gift from the registry of the bride and groom. We had it sent directly to them and we imagine that the quality is up to the standards of Crate&Barrel.

Great Product
This is a great double boiler. I make a lot of cakes so have to melt chocolate quite often. I also use the pans individually as saucepans to cook other items on the stovetop.
The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is an indentation in the top pan (which keeps it resting out of the water). The problem with this indentation is that it's hard to get the chocolate out of it and into your recipe. It's also a bit of a pain to clean.
Overall, I really like the pans and would recommend them.

Great together or as 2 pots!
The double boiler gets used extensively in our house - from things like melting chocolate (a godsend with all the baking I do) to making puddings. It makes life much easier, and fewer items have been ruined. Also used separately for heating sauces or soups up.
