I abhor this sifter.
I've bought many, many things from Crate & Barrel over the years and this is one of only two things that I've disliked. It's just awful. Flour gets stuck and the mechanism jams up. I would suffer through it, banging the thing on my palm trying to get the flour un-stuck because the darn thing was $20 and I don't like to be wasteful. Finally, it broke for good last week (the spring mechanism busted loose and bent the handle) and I had to throw it out. What a waste of money.

Huge Disappointment
I love all things Crate & Barrel so I couldn't have been more surprised (and disappointed) to learn my new sifter didn't work well at all. My recipe called for 4 cups of powdered sugar and no matter what I did or how long I squeezed the handle, it wasn't going through. I've never seen a sifter perform this poorly before. It is sleek and solid but form does not equal function in this case. Take my advice and pass on this item.

Terrible Sifter
I usually love everything I buy from C&B however, this sifter is really bad. I bought it to sift through powdered sugar and it took me 15 minutes to sift through only 2 cups of powdered sugar. I had to get my husband to come and help me because my hand started to cramp. Do not buy this sifter.

Do Not Buy This
I registered for this sifter and I wish I would have checked the reviews before I did because I just tried to use it tonight to sift powdered sugar and it is HORRIBLE! It literally sifted an 1/8 of a teaspoon with each squeeze of the handle. It's horrible.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS SIFTER!!!!!
No kidding. This sifter is horrendous! It's as if the blades don't reach the screens and, as a result, the flour is painfully slow to sift. It takes forever to get 1 cup. My hand and forearm cramped so badly that I literally had to pass the sifter from right hand to left and then bang on the sides of the sifter to operate it.! I've been using a sifter of the same design for years and it was showing signs of wear, so I was excited to find Crate& Barrel offered this product. I won't ever use it again.

Very Disappointed
I needed a new sifter. Thought this one looked sleek, sturdy and would work great for large quantities of ingredients. I am extremely disappointed. It takes forever to sift ingredients. In addition, the pull handle is extremely tiring. Was definitely not worth the $20. Pulled my old beat up sifter out to finish the job.

For the Storng Armed One
This sifter sifts great, but the downside is that it takes a lot of effort to sift much through this one. I found that triple sifting my dry ingredeants for my holiday pound cake was rather tiresome and I counted this sifting to be my excersize for the day. My mom couldn't use it because of its design and constant "squeezing" to make the sifter function. We ended up buying a different style so that she could do holiday baking with me while visiting over Christmas. This one will retire to the thrift store.

Disappointed
Have to agree with Goodie's review. Mine broke after only a couple of uses. I am not sure what happened because it looked like the sifter was turning in the bottom but nothing was coming out the other end. Even when I tried to shake the whole sifter it would not come out.

Gets the job done
This sifter will easily combine all your dry ingredients or just sift flour. It is sturdy, but the handle isn't very comfortable to use for more than a minute. My dry ingredients will all fit inside at once, but it wish it were a bit bigger so I'd have some more room. It's a handy tool to have though and does all I need it to do.

GREAT Sifter
I purchased this sifter prior to the holiday baking season and have not regretted it. Mechanically it operates very smoothly. Easy to do with just one hand. Plus it is large enough to hold most of the dry ingredients in a recipe. Also, it is a sleek looking baking gadget. And dishwasher safe....a big plus.

Strong, but it wears me out!
This flour sifter is robust and looks nice, but I wish that I had bought one with the rotating handle on the side instead. The constant squeezing of the handle on this leaves me rather tired, especially if I'm sifting a lot of flour.
I would recommend *not* washing this product - just shake it out after use and put back in the cupboard with a liner/plate underneath - otherwise the flour can get caked and stuck in the sifter.

Flour Sifter
I'm not one to write a bad review but unfortunately this sifter broke the first time I used it. The handles are only glued on not riveted or soldered on. When I tapped the side of the sifter to level some of the confectioners sugar, the handle broke off completely. I'm certain that Crate and Barrel will make good on it however. I think they should rethink their specs on how this is made. I hope this will be constructive and not just a bad review.
