Mis numbered and dangerous
First off the knifes are great! I've had a couple of block sets and these have worked great. However, as a block set Calphalon really messed up. It's a 17 piece set in which the knife block has 19 holes. This would be good if your adding knifes but they then didn't make the wholes fit any knife you would legitimately be adding to a block set. So, it great detracts from the look.
Also, if you are moving your house, or have have an active kitchen like me where you move things around depending on what event your prepping for BE VERY CAREFUL!! Calphalon messed up the measurements for the block. The steak knives and 8" stick out a good ways. If you move it and aren't very careful you can slice up your arm pretty good... cause they knifes do stay sharp.
As a block set I was disappointed with Calphalon. It's not their usual quality.

Quality & Value
We love this set of knives! It makes every cutting, slicing and dicing job far easier - what a difference a really good knife makes!
Only want to caution, as others have indicated - they are VERY sharp (which is why they work so well), however, extra caution is necessary when using them, especially in the beginning if users are not used to such sharp knives.

LOVE THESE!
We got this knife set for a wedding gift and I think it's one of my favorite gifts by far! These knives are amazing! VERY sharp and get the job done with extreme ease. They are hand wash, but it doesn't bother me because I like to hand wash certain products anyway just to take extra care of them. I would recommend to anyone!!

Great Quality
We recently purchased these knives using some gift cards that we got for our wedding. We were a little apprehensive because the knives were originally on back order, but now that they've arrived they are well worth the wait! We were immediately impressed by how sharp they were; making cutting much easier. The only downfall is that the knife block is made for a 19 piece set, so two of the knives are not included. We are planning on purchasing the other two knives to complete the set when possible.

Best Newlywed Purchase!

OBSESSED
These are the sharpest knives I have every owned. We received the block set as a shower gift, along with another set of 8 steak knives...and we love them. The block is really compact and fits nicely on our counter. The knives are super sharp and yet super stylish. I love the black graphite color of them - they look sleek at place settings. They are also comfortable to hold, which is definitely a plus. Keep them away from kids though - WAY to sharp.

Best Investment EVER
I love this set of knives so much, you have no idea!
I always thought I was a terrible cook who didn't know how to slice tomatoes, but little did I know that the problem was not me, but rather my cheap knives. Now with this17-piece knives set I feel like a chef! The knives are very sharp, easy to clean if you don't mind taking two seconds to handwash them, and look great!
This may sound weird, but these knives fit perfectly when drying them on the simplehuman System Dish Rack.
I cannot be more satisfied with this purchase. My bread is no longer smooshed when slicing it, and I learned how to slice tomatoes!

Cuts great but hand wash
These are some sharp knives! Finally I know exactly what knife I'm grabbing out of the block thanks to the descriptions at the end of each handle. Just prepare yourself to wash the knives by hand because they can't go in the dishwasher.

wonderfully sharp
My brother gave us these knives as a wedding gift and I've been teasing him ever since because they're so sharp I clumsily cut myself on them almost every time I use them. They are wonderfully sharp and have to be the best quality knives I've ever owned. There are a few spare gaps in the wood block, but it will just be handy for storing other miscellaneous knives we have lying around.

Makes Cooking more Fun
Since we're gotten these knives we've done a lot more cooking. It's so easy to chop anything and we feel really cool when we do it. Now we love to cook for ourselves just so we can use the knives. This is definitely a complete set and a great value for the price. Other sets are much more expensive for less knives. We are very satisfied with this product.

Extra holes
We received this as a wedding gift and love the knives! However, there are 17 pieces while the block has 19 holes. It is odd because the picture on the box and online shows 17 holes but when we received it, there are 2 extra. I guess we'll try to fill them with additional knives, but it is disappointing that it was not exactly what it appeared to be.

Oh so comfy
We chose these knives over other brand names because they are substantial, yet easy to maneuver. The Calphalons seemed to fit my smaller, woman's hand, as well as my husband's manly hands. We've been enjoying these knives for almost five years now and they're still going strong. These were definitely a great investment!

Great quality!
I use these knives for catering. Even after a lot of use and abuse they are still like new. I love them so much I recently purchased a second set for home.

Good knives but not scaled for small hands
It was between this set and the smaller wustof for us and we went with this one since it had more knives and seemed comparable in quality for less. I like these knives, they're nice and heavy, full tang, well balanced, but they are a little too big for my hands which are are a little smaller than average for women. They fit his hands great, I just find the larger ones in particular a little awkward to use sometimes compared with the wustof.

Wonderful Knives
My favorite thing about these knives is the handle. The shape is wonderful and they are nice and substantial as well. The knives also keep edges very well.

Love These Knives
Had them for almost a year. Bought the 5" Santoku and the Bagel/Tomato knife to complete the set.
They're sharp, they feel solid in your hand, easy to clean and sharpen.
And they look great. I like how the knives are labeled on the ends so you don't have to pull a knife out and look at it to know what it is.

Great Deal
Didn´t have the money to buy the fancy knife set, but was pleasantly surprised that these knifes are really good! I know they might not last as long as the other more expensive ones, but for now, I´m soooooooo happy I got them - and so many of them!

Great knives!
We received these knives as a wedding present, and we really like them. I never knew how bad my old knives were until we got these. Cutting just got 10 times easier! I would have given them 5 stars if they were dishwasher safe, however, you need to hand wash them, and I prefer dishwashable items!
