The Story

Rue Double Old-Fashioned Glass is rated 3.8571 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite as expected I ordered these goblets thinking I could use them for wine, but when they arrived I found them to be much too thick and heavy to use as a drinking glass at all. I decided to keep them to use for individual fruit salads, ice cream or even shrimp cocktail. They are quite large and I think would be awkward to drink from. The only thing I found truly disappointing was the cloudiness of the glass. They do not resemble the photos shown here. The colored speckles are there as shown, but the glass itself has an almost bluish, cloudy cast to it - plus it feels odd to the touch, as thought there is a film of some kind on it. All in all, they are a novelty type of goblet but I wouldn't suggest using them to drink from. The glass is too thick and probably would end up acting like a dribble glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love! Great for entertaining! I purchased 4 Rue double old fashioned glasses. I'm in love with them and just ordered more! They are the perfect summer glass. I love that each one is different. They have character and I find them to be very sturdy. I only hand wash them and wouldn't recommend putting them in the dish washer since they are hand blown glass. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love!!! I purchased the rue specialty glasses for a new summer drink glass - can be used as a water goblet, for margaritas and sangria - it's sturdy and unique - yet classic and beautiful at the same time. I love the color specs and each is unique so there are slight variations, but I love them!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beautiful, but they break easily. I just loved the look of these glasses. But the day that I bought them one glass after the first initial wash, cracked. I bought 2 water glasses and 2 old fashion glasses. I wanted to buy 8 of each and boy am I glad I did not. After the next few uses another one broke while washing it!.. I now have 2 left and dont use them. They are very beautiful but very fragile to any heat, cold or bumps. Sad...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I'd expected I purchased 4 or the 28oz "specialty" glasses, and I guess I thought they'd be usable as a small goblet. When they arrived, I found they were much larger and heavier than I'd thought they'd be...not at all appropriate to drink liquids from, which was what I had intended for their use. They ARE very attractive, but I wouldn't feel comfortable handling such a weighty, awkward to hold glass, especially when drinking alcohol. This particular size glass is actually more like a BOWL. It would be great for serving cold soup, fruit salad or a shrimp cocktail. I plan to keep them and use them for serving - candy, nuts, perhaps even crudités? I also want to check if they would be heat resistant, as they would make interesting candle holders on a table - if not I may use battery operated candles. The one thing I would mention is that upon receiving my order, the clear part of the glass is not really clear - it has a sort of greyish blue cast all over - and also has a kind of chalky feel. I haven't used them as of yet - hopefully when I wash them they will clear up.
