Kipling Round Pedestal Table
We recently purchased a Kipling Round Pedestal Table and have not been happy with the finish on the table top. The table scratches VERY easy even just dusting it makes it scratch. I love the looks of it in my dining room but not the quality.

Great Table
This is a great table. The size is perfect for 4, or 6 extended. The table still looks great after 3 years. The dark brown color is very nice and I have been very happy with the quality of the table. I also have the hutch, sideboard, and chairs.

Beautiful table
We've had this table for about a year. After reading the reviews.. I had a custom glasstop made to protect the beautiful wood. I have a 2 year old and it is perfect. I have a mohagany restaurant type high chair for her and she eats all her meals with us at the table. We can wipe the glass clean after each meal and not worry about the wood getting knicked or scratched. When we use the extension, I use an oval table pad to protect the wood. It is perfect for the limited dining area of our small house. I wish I could get the buffet with hutch, but don't have space for it.

Functional table, poor finish
This table is very functional for a condo, with and without leaf. The finish is easily scratched and does not show the grain of the mahogany of which it is made. I liked the table so much that I had it refinished which cost more than the table itself.

Great table - even with kids!
We have had this table about one year. I saw the other reviews and was a little nervous about the finish but it was the perfect size for us and I love the pedestal.
We have hardly any scratches on it at all. The few we have are very light, you can only see from certain angles but the table still looks beautiful. I have a 4 and 6 year old and we all (even grownups) use place-mats on it. I find the table very sturdy as well.
I will say the chairs we bought with it are not holding up so well. The paint has flecked off of them in several places and some screws have come loose.

Beautiful Table!
I absolutely love this dining room table. I needed something for my apartment that wasn't too small, but large enough to make a statement in a small dining space. The oval design was perfect for the space. The table has a rich quality and looks great with any type of contemporary chairs. The table insert to increase the size will work perfectly when I am in a larger space that requires seating for 6. Can’t wait to host guest using this dining room table.

Beautiful, but not practical for everyday use
We purchased this beautiful table and matching buffet/hutch a few months ago. I saw both pieces in the store, and they seemed well-made, as well as very nice looking. Sadly, within a week of using the table everyday, it had several scratches. Coasters must be used at all times to avoid water stains and thick placemats need to be used. A grain of salt or crumb of bread is hard enough to scratch the finish. If you have kids or pets (cats that jump up on the table), I wouldn't recommend this table. Otherwise, plan on investing in a pad and tablecloths.

Beautiful but not functional
I was initially thrilled with this table. It is simple and beautiful and the leaf is a great feature. However, the top of the table was ruined within a month. The finish scratches if you give it a dirty look. You have to use coasters if you don't want a glass of water to leave a ring. And don't even think of putting a plate full of hot food on it. I've had the table about a year and really regret this purchase. I can't have a normal meal without worrying about damaging the table. Sad.

Perfect Dining
We love this table, its a perfect fit for our dining area. Table is durable, stylish, and very functional. We kept the leaf in the middle to expand the table, but it can be easily removed for a more intimate dining experience. Quality is excellent and the product is one of our favorites.

Excellent Choice
We had read all of the reviews and based our experience on our knowledge of different types of wood furniture as well as various C&B pieces we already own. My husband and I love this table. The table is not wobbly or unstable. We knew that solid mahogany is a soft type of wood which can easily be ruined if you scratch it. We knew what to expect when we purchased this table. When we received it, we were extremely pleased with the design of the table and craftsmanship. We guarantee that you will not regret this purchase!

Almost perfect table
I got this table to replace a previous very sturdy C&B pedestal table which didn't have an extension. I love the look of it — it's quite elegant — and I love the option of round or oval. I have found that the finish isn't wearing well. The table is wobbly (especially with the extension in place, of course), with no apparently means of shoring up. My biggest problem is that I didn't know I should store the leaf flat; I stored it upright and it warped, so much so that I have a great deal of difficulty getting it in now. I still like the table, and enjoy using it, but am concerned that it will get increasingly wobbly.

I love this table! As for the previous comment theres balance screw on the bottom of the pedestal. Maybe not the best for kids but read reviews before you buy (smart shopping) I have the buffet also and love all the pieces

Finish is awful
Completely agree with previous review of the finish. What good is a table if you cannot even run a finger across it without resulting in a scratch. Also, the pedestal causes the table to wable....not the most sturdy, especially with the leaf in. I would never buy this table again.

Kipling Table - Bad Finish
I do agree with the other reviewers that this table is a stunner. It looks good in the kitchen and gets many compliments. However, this is not the table for anyone with kids or anyone who is bothered by scratches/knicks on their furniture. A simple wipe with a dry paper towel will leave scratches, a child's booster seat will rip the finish right off of the chair. You CANNOT put any heated item on the surface. We use cutting boards on top of placemats to eat on because the heat from the plate will make the finish gray in color. Anything you put on this table will leave a mark. I just keep the blinds closed and don't let in the light because it shows all of the wear and tear on the table, and I take very good care of my things. This shouldn't have happened. It seems like the protective lacquer isn't protective enough. Crate and Barrel needs to go back to the design board and find another way to treat the top of the table so this doesn't happen to anyone else. I would highly recommend not purchasing this product or go into the store and just see the marks on the sample or try and run your fingernail on the table and you will see what I mean. Buy something that will hold up for at least a few years.

Love this table!
My husband and I purchased this table approximately one year ago and it is perfect for our kitchen! We have received numerous compliments on the color/finish and style (blends well with contempoary and traditional furnishings) For the money this was a great buy. The chairs are very comfortable too!

Great Quality!
After looking everywhere for a pedestal table I decided on this one and love it!!! It is solid wood and great quality all for a great price! My only complaint is that I agree with the other person who said the finish could be better. We played cards on the table right after I got it and simply writing our scores on the paper put indents in the finish. :( Other than that it is beautiful!

This table is exactly what I had in mind and looks lovely in my dining room. Its casual elegance is just what I wanted and makes it easy to dress it up or down. Also, I'm thrilled with the ease with which you can insert/remove the leaf! It's a snap.

Kipling Pedesetal Table and Chairs
I recently bought the Kipling Pedestal Table and chairs, and I love them! I was looking for a table that didn't really have any extra frills, and this fits my requirements. It is simple but yet the curves on the base of the table keep it elegant looking. I also live in a small apartment, but this table is just the right sisze. Even with the chairs around it, I can still manueuver without bumping into it. It is also sturdy without having the feeling that it will topple over any minute. C & B did a great job designing this dining set.

A beautiful, classic piece...
I purchased this table for my apartment without having seen it in person, since my local C&B didn't have a floor sample.
This is an absolutely jaw-dropping piece, and probably my favorite C&B purchase. Assembly was relatively simple, as my wife actually assembled this one while I was working on building some of our other pieces. This is a beautiful dark, rich, solid wood table and will be the centerpiece of your dining room. You will be impressed with the quality and craftsmanship put into this piece.
You will not be able to find a better made piece for the money. I can almost assure you that anything that comes close to this piece will cost you upwards of $1k.
