The Story

The next generation of our popular leaning storage system—now in a sleek java finish. Ladder-style design secures against the wall for maximum stability (hardware included). Sturdy media stand has one fixed top shelf and two adjustable shelves concealed inside the cabinet. Cabinet is outfitted with sliding doors, cord management and ventilation slots. Components fit inside the cabinet; store DVDs and CDs in the upper divided cubbyhole. Narrow design suits smaller spaces, or allows the addition of two bookcases for an affordable, expansive wall of storage and display—yet still creates a 41"-wide space for a flat panel TV.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good media center, some fatal flaws We bought this media unit to complete our Sloane bar, bookshelf, desk unit. Aesthetically, it's gorgeous. It looks great next to the other units. It's very solid and sturdy.Logistically, it has a couple issues. First, the cord holes are on the back of the unit. That means the cords need to fall down the back to plug into the wall. That means that the unit cannot sit flush against the wall like the other peoples. Womp, womp. Thankfully in our case, we are installing reclaimed barn planks on our wall, so we can leave one off to allow for the cords to fall behind the unit and appear flush against the wall. For most people, I would assume you might need to drill a hole in the top or bottom of the unit if you want it to sit flush against the wall. I hate the idea of having to use destructive measures to make this work. I wish the design accommodated the cords better. On the plus side, however, there are holes inside the media cabinets so that cords can go from one side to the other (there is a divider in the middle). The other issue is with the media cabinet on the bottom. For one, it gets a little warm in there. And two, if you have your cable or stereo in there and you would like to use a remote, you need to leave the cabinet door open. The top shelfy area is not deep enough to hold our cable box, so we have to put it in the cabinet and we have to leave a door open while in use. Which isn't so bad since as I mentioned earlier, it does get hot in there, so a little ventilation isn't so bad.Lastly, installation. This was by far the more difficult unit to assemble, though not impossible. The middle dividers than need to go on the top shelfy part and in the media cabinet require some fancy slide action... and it's easy to accidentally scratch the surface if you're not careful. I recommend assembling on carpeting or a dropcloth to avoid this.Overall, we're pretty pleased with how it turned out, and these flaws wouldn't prevent me from purchasing again; just some things to keep in mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Media Center I was looking for something with an open feeling for my entertainment center and this fits the bill perfectly. Easy to assemble and fastens securely to other shelves and wall. Fits a 42" flatscreen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect! I purchased this unit to replace a rather large armoire that I had been using for years as a media center. I moved into a smaller place and realized that my old piece overwhelmed my tiny, carpeted living room. I needed something that wasn't imposing while adding some storage space and style, and this fits the bill! I have also purchased the 25" shelving units and bar to make a beautiful wall in my new home that adds storage while feeling open/inviting....and I didn't have to put any holes in the wall (which is very important to a renter :) ...yay!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful for a small space! I seriously downsized. My big armoire had to go! This unit is perfect. It looks great and doesn't overwhelm a space. I'm very happy with the quality and it goes with anything. Wish I had room for the side pieces also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is perfect This piece fits perfectly into our home and looks great with the wine bar next to it. We have a TV that is about an inch larger than the dimensions listed and it works great because of the placement of the sides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price We bought this because we already had the bookcase and we needed something inexpensive for our temporary apartment. It looks really nice right next to the bookcase and we plan to keep it in our new house. We like that it takes up some vertical wall space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The furniture looks great and is very stable The item comes unassembled, but is very well engineered with easy to follow instructions. Even the required tools are included. The only problem I had was that when I drove the 20 miles to the store to pick it up they gave me one large box. I ask, "are you sure there is not a second box?". They assured me the one box had all that I needed. I drove the 20 miles back to my house… about one hour later into the assemble I discovered that indeed there are missing parts. I had to drive back to the store location and pick up the missing box of parts. If you buy this, it will look great, but be sure they give you both boxes of parts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great addition to a home office I purchased this along with the Leaning desk to put in a bedroom/office of our home. We are very pleased. A little challenging to put together (only because I did it alone) but could not be happier with the results. I will am using this for my printer and fax machine instead of a TV. Very happy with the quality as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Entertainment Center My husband and I purchased this along with the bookshelf and wine cabinet for our living room. Works perfect for our space. Now that we are moving, I am even more excited that I can use the three different pieces around the house, as we do not have a large wall for all three pieces to be together. This is such a functional, yet stylish and versatile piece. We couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it! I'm so glad i finally purchased my first piece of the Sloane collection, the media stand. It arrived within 3 business days and i put it together by myself in 3.5 hours. Eventually I'll add to it but it looks fine standing alone. The veneer is of higher quality than most so it looks like the real thing, however it does chip just about as easily as any other so caution is advised

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great storage, best used with other Sloane pieces I have three other pieces in the Sloane collection arranged with this media stand to form a feature wall in my living room. It looks great, providing not only decorative effect but storage space for little used but attractive dishes I own. Unlike the bookshelves, the media stand is free standing, so I would need to bolt them together (with included hardware) for them to align properly. (I have chosen not to.) The shelf seems a bit wobbly and bows slightly under the weight of about 10 pounds of DVDs and ceramics. The electronics storage area is about twice as much room as I need for the cable box, Blu-ray, and Apple TV, so the extreme room comes a as a nice bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice simple, functional design We just finished building a 5-unit version of this shelving system (one media center, one desk center, and three 18" bookshelves. They went together easily, all parts clearly labeled and simple instructions. Once they are secured to the walls, they are very stable and great looking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome piece but wish they would align smoother This was a nightmare to build compared with the other segments (I got all 5 pieces--both 18", 24" bookcases, media center, desk, and bar) and is slightly higher in regards to height to the other pieces--and thus looks a little odd for someone as critical on perfection as me. I was under the impression that they would all line up perfectly from top to bottom--but then again I am very compulsive compared to a standard person. Still a good looking piece though and I am sticking with all 5 and can't wait to put my TV and computer on it. These pieces should be delivered assembled-that is my main gripe; this consumed a whole day to assemble.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sleek look, especially when space is at a premium! This piece is a perfect space-saving solution while still being attractive. It is easy to put together and comes with very thorough assembly instructions. We also have the narrow bookshelf which looks especially nice aligned next to the media stand. We have a larger TV (50" diagonal including frame; 42.25" width including frame) and it fits surprisingly well; we were worried it would either be too large or would look out of place on the stand, but it works fine! We just rotate the TV slightly to help with side-to-side fit (we'd probably want to do this anyway vs placing the TV straight on), and it doesn't look funny at all.Good quality for the price, and it looks so handsome when it's assembled that I doubt people realize it's self-assembled!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for an apartment! I bought this to go along with the matching desk and wine bar and they look great! The media stand is a perfect size for a small apartment, and still has good storage. My only complaint is that the bottom cabinet is always half open to get to the cable box.
