Rated 5 out of 5 by cristisoria from Best chocolate cake ever!I bought this cake mix for an Easter evening treat, I had people at home and one of our guests was celebrating his birthday, so I added a couple of candles to the cake. The cake was simply delicious, soft, spongy, moist... EVERY SINGLE PERSON asked me about the recipe. I just showed the box and said: "you just have to go to Crate And Barrel buy it, and follow the directions." It's easy, is delicious, it's just perfect. I also tried the vanilla and the lemon versions, and both are as good and delicious as the chocolate one. I would never buy any other mix for cake.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lissayo from Horrible ProductI 2 boxes of this and a box of vanilla bean. We followed the recipe to a tee yet each time the cake overflowed even with very little battery in the pan. It takes also collapsed without the oven ever being opened during baking. This happened to all three cake mixes. The flavor and texture we're not good either. Had to go get Betty Crocker to rescue us!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rolayn from Chocolate Cake/Cupcake MixI purchased several boxes of these mixes, both in dark chocolate and vanilla bean, so that I could give them to my neighbors as gifts. I made a batch myself, after giving away the rest. I followed the directions to the letter, and filled the cupcakes using the exact amount the recipe called for. After the baking was done, I opened the oven door to find that all of the cupcakes had overflowed into my oven. So - I made a second batch, using less mix in the cupcake pan. Again - some overflowed and after taking them out of the oven they collapsed. Terrible mess with nothing to show. I was very disappointed with this mix and consider them a waste of my money. I'd do better with plain old grocery store cake mixes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jamie00001 from Save yourself some moneyI was very disappointed with the quality of the crate and barrel cake mixes. I tried the vanilla bean and chocolate and found that a $3 box of grocery store mix to be far superior in taste and texture. The frostings were even worse. The chocolate frosting was gray not brown and tasted like coffee. I recommend that you save yourself the money and pick up some other variety of mixes.
