How to Brighten up your Bathroom for Spring

There's something in the air this time of year that makes you want to start fresh. Tieghan Gerard of Half Baked Harvest talks about how a few small changes to your bathroom can change your morning routine and your outlook in a big way.

With spring here and summer quickly approaching, I felt it was time to give my drab and colorless bathroom a little freshen up for the brighter days ahead. When the sun breaks out and the warm days hit, I can’t help but feel the need to add color and even some organization into my life. There’s something about the longer days and bright colors popping up outside that inspires me to clean!

Anyone else feel the same? I guess that’s why we call it spring cleaning!

Bathroom vanity all re-decorated with flowers, vases, new towels, and accessories

I don’t have a fancy bathroom in any way. In fact, it’s pretty simple. It’s small and white with little storage. My goal for this bathroom refresh was to add color and organization with a few simple bathroom designs. To add those pops of colors, I switched out my grey towels with bright spring blue towels and added a few flower arrangements for a fresh and relaxing feel. Flowers always make a room feel brighter and more inviting!

Wooden shelf with wire baskets and glass canisters for organization

Since my bathroom has almost zero storage, I turned to wire baskets to keep my hand towels, makeup, and lotions organized. For items like cotton balls and my homemade coffee body scrub, I like using azure glass canisters. They’re functional, pretty, and fit the relaxed, sea blue theme I’m going for.

Ladder with towels and blue vase with flowers

For towel storage, I had to get a little creative as my shelf space is limited. I love the look of ladders, so I decided to use a rustic ladder to hang my towels on. Not only does the ladder keep my towels clean and off the floor, but it also looks pretty and unique.

Full length mirror next to vanity

I think every room should have one statement piece. For the bathroom it just makes sense to make that piece a mirror. I absolutely love the look of my giant floor to ceiling mirror. It’s the piece that people comment on most. Bonus…it makes the bathroom feel like it’s twice the size that it actually is. Yeah!

Stool next to shower with candle and canisters

Stool with rolled towels on it

Another thing I love to do for the bathroom is to keep a stool right next to the shower for a candle or any body scrubs/essential oils I may want to use while in the shower. And to keep all the dirty clothes off the floor? A vintage-inspired hamper is a must!

Laundry bin with towels

By adding these few simple touches to my bathroom, I was able to create an attractive space that feels relaxed and inviting—even in the early morning light. Honestly, it brightens my mood just walking into this room. Simple touches, but they make all the difference!
