New Year’s Day Breakfast
Post by Michelle of Avery and Augustine
It’s nice to have New Year’s Day breakfast ready to go when you’re feeling just a bit tired from ringing in the new year the night before. A bowl of nutritious steel-cut oats is the ideal breakfast to start off the new year. Making overnight oats is a game changer—you don’t have to stand over the stove for half an hour waiting for your oats to cook. The prep will only take you about ten minutes the night before and a few minutes to warm them up on the stove (or microwave) the next day. We followed this recipe on The Kitchn and it worked out perfectly.
Different toppings make things more interesting (especially for kids), and help vary the texture and liven up flavors. In this instance, we decided to put out the following to choose from: brown butter crumble (from a graham cracker crust recipe on Food52), cacao nibs, apple jam (recipe from Bon Appétit), blueberries, almonds, toasted coconut and coconut sugar.
Happy New Year to all, and hope your first breakfast of the year is a memorable one!
