Easter Basket Prep

Spring is almost here, along with Easter!  If you’re trying to think of some new ideas for this year’s Easter basket, here’s what we’re doing this year:

We also made a couple of Alice Medrich’s Easter nest centerpieces, following the tutorial on Food52.  You can use milk or dark chocolate—we ended up using Callebaut milk chocolate chips.  The nests were pretty easy to assemble.  I definitely agree with Alice’s recommendation to line your bowl with plastic wrap beforehand.  It makes it easier to lift the nest out of the bowl once it has hardened.  Before you pull the nest out of the bowl, I would recommend letting it sit out for about ten minutes in the bowl after it’s hardened in the refrigerator.  Letting the nest warm up makes it a little easier to pull out of the bowl.  You can fill your nest with your favorite chocolate eggs, but if you want a healthier alternative, you can also use Marcona almonds.

Here are some other edible ideas to welcome spring:

Happy (almost) spring!
