The older my little boys get, the more my living room evolves. I’ve resisted, they’ve persisted, and toys, play tables and books have steadily made their way into what was once considered a tastefully curated space for grown-ups. But who am I kidding? The living room is where we all gather. Why not create a room that embraces the whole family?

For this room, I started with our Mid-Century Chesterfield sofa, with Crypton-protected fabric. This space is for the kids too, after all! Take some snazzy washi tape and hang one of our giant coloring wall posters to deter tiny hands from scribbling crayon elsewhere. Let the Typeface table light be your marquee to impromptu family concerts. When it’s time to say goodnight, pick a book from our clever Giraffe bookcase and snuggle up in the Urban Design Playhouse for some indoor camping.
