Homemade Peanut Butter Cups Recipe

January 24, 2018

I have a weakness: peanut butter cups. And, I am pretty sure I passed it on to our kids. In this home, we all love the yummy, peanut butter filled treats.

Last year I started making homemade peanut butter cups and can’t stop! They are SO easy and like most things; they taste so much better homemade. Check out the recipe below. Seriously, make these once, and they’ll be a new must-make treat for special occasions, a mom stash of treats – or any day!

Ingredients

  • 300g chocolate of choice (1 bar baker’s chocolate – I used white chocolate)
  • Peanut butter of choice; as much/little as you would like
  • 12 small sized baking cups or 6 regular sized ones
  • Optional: 1 – 2 tsp honey

Directions

  1. Gather ingredients listed above. Then, bring a medium pot of water to a slow boil on the stove top.
  2. Get a metal bowl (for melting) and place this bowl over the top of your water pot.
  3. Place chocolate in a bowl and mix pretty constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  4. Remove the metal bowl from your pot and turn off the stove.
  5. Next, place a small amount of melted chocolate into each of your baking cups. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the melted chocolate slightly up the sides of the cup.
  6. Then, place your small chocolate cups in the freezer to set. After 10-15 minutes in the freezer, remove.
  7. Next, place a small amount of peanut butter into each baking cup and push down into your set chocolate. *If desired add a little honey to your peanut butter prior to this step. I think this really bumps up the taste AND makes the peanut butter mixture a bit creamier. Totally optional, but yummy!
  8. Spoon a final layer of chocolate on top of the peanut butter. Spreading to ensure coverage of all peanut butter.
  9. Place cups back in the freezer to set again. Once set, enjoy (and try not to eat them all in one sitting)!
