DIY Memento Picture Frame

August 12, 2013

Looking for a unique piece to fill a void on your child's bedroom wall? Consider digging out a favorite outgrown piece of clothing. Maybe a family heirloom, maybe your daughter's first pair of bloomers, or maybe even your son's first bow-tie.

We chose a swimsuit. Living here in Charleston it was a sensible choice. But what makes this swimsuit extra special is that the designer, Marysia Reeves of Marysia Swim, is a good friend of mine and named the suit "Lilly" after my daughter. That's pretty special in my book. So I went to my favorite in town framer and chose a coral frame and white background to display the suit. I love tone on tone, and the white backdrop allows the suit to pop.

Framing the suit allows us to enjoy the suit long after the short span of Lilly fitting into it. And bonus, storing it safely on the wall keeps it clean and preserved until a future granddaughter wants to wear it.

I love the way this project turned out. To see more of Lilly's room, check out this post that I wrote for Honest to Nod.
